Security camera footage that could hold the key to solving the disappearance of millionaire businesswoman is MISSING - as police reveal why she may never be found after vanishing from her clifftop mansion

A wealthy businesswoman who disappeared from her cliffside mansion has vanished 'without a trace', with police unable to find her on CCTV footage from her own home or those in neighbouring streets.  

Melissa Caddick, 49, is believed to have left her $7 million home at Dover Heights, in Sydney's east, activewear about 5.30am last Thursday, without her phone or purse.

She has not been seen since. 

A day earlier Australian Federal Police executed a search warrant at the mother-of-one's home as part of an investigation into her business dealings by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.

It is understood that during their raid on the property an issue occurred with a CCTV camera outside Ms Caddick's mansion, meaning the camera was not recording when she went for her run on Thursday morning.

Eastern Suburbs detective inspector Gretchen Atkins said they were at a loss to find a trace of her on any of the CCTV cameras in the area.

She also admitted they are now treating Ms Caddick's disappearance as 'suspicious'. 

'We have had some issues getting the CCTV at this point in time, its still a process and we are not sure if it has actually recorded,' Det Insp Atkins said. 

'Wednesday was the last time we know it (the CCTV at the home) did record.

'Unfortunately we haven't (had any luck with CCTV). Neighbours have been trying to help us as much as they can.

'At this point in time we don't (have any leads), we are just trying to piece together Melissa's final movements that we're aware of and that's why we are doing an appeal.

'We don't have any locations that we know that she's been, she hasn't attended appointments that she had, which is why we're really concerned.

'She doesn't have her phone and she doesn't have any access to bank accounts.' 

In addition to searching for CCTV footage, police have searched along the cliffs at Dover Heights and The Gap - a known suicide spot. 

Ms Caddick's husband Anthony Koletti and brother Adam Grimley made an appeal to the public for help on Friday.

'Just come home, everything's taken care of. You're not in trouble,' Mr Koletti said.

Mr Koletti said he had last seen his wife when they went to bed on Wednesday night.

Everything had been 'as normal' and the next morning she got up to go for her usual run about 5.30am. 

Mr Koletti said he was asleep at the time, but Ms Caddick's teenage son was in the home's gym at the time and her the front door shut as she left. 

When the pair eventually got out of bed themselves they found her belongings at home. 

'She always took her phone, in this case it is the only time since I've known her that she did not take her phone with her,' Mr Koletti said.

'I was advised to contact within 24 hours and I did.'

Ms Caddick reportedly frequented the Dover Heights, Bondi and Double Bay area on her runs, with police appealing for anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage that may show her to come forward.

She was due to face the Federal Court on Friday to hand in her passports over the ASIC and AFP investigation but never showed.

In her place Mr Koletti attended court and told officials of her disappearance, at which point he was told to report her missing.

Neighbours said plain-clothed police removed laptops, files and documents in bags of evidence from her home last Wednesday.

'They had undercover police there on the Wednesday and they were just taking out clear bags filled with computers, papers, files and documents,' one neighbour said.

'We were just like: 'What is going on?' 

That same day, Ms Caddick was hit with stringent court order banning her from leaving the country, ordering her not to sell any property and demanding she not transfer money offshore from her 17 bank accounts.

ASIC took Ms Caddick to the Federal Court and successfully had her banned from selling, mortgaging or disposing of her assets. She was ordered not to send her own money - contained in a lengthy list of bank accounts - offshore.  

Justice Jayne Jagot also ordered she surrender 'the name, physical address, email address and phone number of each person who currently has funds deposited'  with her company for investment purposes, plus the location and amount of that money. 

NSW Police has launched a public appeal to help find business managing director Melissa Caddick as the search entered its sixth day

Neighbours told Daily Mail Australia police had attended the property twice last week. First, undercover agents - believed to be AFP - executed a search warrant. Then on Friday NSW Police arrived to investigate Ms Caddick's disappearance

Ms Caddick was warned that if she disobeyed the orders she would be 'liable to imprisonment, sequestration of property or other punishment'. 

An ASIC spokeswoman declined to explain why Ms Caddick was under investigation as the agency's probe is 'ongoing'.  

Neighbours said they were stunned by last week's raid, telling Daily Mail Australia she and her husband kept to themselves.

Residents on the Wallangra Road block had set up a WhatsApp group to check in on each other in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. The missing woman and her husband were the only household not involved, the neighbor claimed.

'We know pretty much the whole block except them, it's very weird.

'You'd see him (Mr Koletti, a DJ) out the front occasionally, but most of the time you only hear him revving his car or the music blaring.'

Ms Caddick was last seen after midnight last Thursday. NSW Police detectives believe she left home about 5.30am that morning, dressed in her jogging gear. 

A neighbour told Daily Mail Australia the couple 'seemed very happy, she seemed to be a successful businesswoman and she had a son who lived with her and with the dad.

'It's just odd… we're all a bit shocked that something like that could happen around here.'  

The eagle-eyed local took a photo when NSW Police officers showed up at the house on Friday, just three days after the home was raided. This time, they were there to find a missing person.

Earlier this week Mr Koletti told The Daily Telegraph he was helping detectives with their every request. 

'We've been married seven years, we've known each other a long time.' 

'I'm doing everything to help detectives find her, it's really hard, I just want to find her. 

'Right now I'm chasing every lead possible, all I want is to find her, this is very hard.' 

Ms Caddick's most recent business was as a director of Maliver Pty Ltd, which was subject to the ASIC action.

Ms Caddick is described as Caucasian, 165cm tall, slim build and has long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black singlet top and leggings, and silver 'Nike' sneakers.
