New York 14-year-old boy steals his dad’s car to run away with his 11-year-old girlfriend - and is caught speeding 1,200 miles away in Iowa

A New York teenage boy who took his father's car to run away with his 11-year-old girlfriend has been stopped after driving 1,200 miles away.

Kevin Figueros, 14, from Brooklyn, was caught speeding in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Sunday with his girlfriend Amaya Arguelles, who comes from Bensonhurst.

Figueros, of Midwood, took his father's Toyota mini-van and was reported missing on Thursday along with Arguelles.

The missing couple were stopped more than 1,239 miles away in Council Bluffs three days after they were last seen in New York

The young couple were pulled over police and taken to Council Bluffs Juvenile Detention Center.

It is not clear why they skipped town but their parents were notified when they were caught.
