Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly says Donald Trump is the 'most flawed person' he's ever met and the 'depth of his dishonesty is just astounding'

Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has said Donald Trump is the 'most flawed person' he's ever met and the 'depths of his dishonesty is just astounding'.

Kelly, who left the White House in January 2019, told friends the president treats relationships like 'transactions' and branded his behavior 'pathetic', according to CNN.

The damning comments from the former White House staffer will feature in new CNN special 'The Insiders: A Warning from Former Trump Officials' airing Sunday.

The show features testimony from multiple former close aides of the president including former national security adviser John Bolton, former Health and Human Services scientist Rick Bright and former Department of Homeland Security general counsel John Mitnick explaining why they believe Trump is not fit to run the country.

It comes as Trump is already trailing Democratic rival Joe Biden in the polls with less than three weeks to go until the election.

The show also coincides with the release of a bombshell book from an 18-year Trump business executive which describes a catalogue of racist, sexist and anti-Semitic behavior from the president including a time he allegedly banned black people from the lobby of his buildings.

'The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me,' retired Marine general Kelly told friends, according to the CNN report.

'The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship, though it's more pathetic than anything else. He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life.'

Other former members of the Trump administration who appear in the CNN TV special have voiced similar concerns about the president's character in the lead-up to the election.

Elizabeth Neumann, a former Department of Home Security official, blasted Trump after the first presidential debate in September for not condemning white supremacy.

'The fact that he continues to not be able to just point-blank say, 'I condemn White supremacy.' It boggles the mind,' she told CNN at the time.

CNN reported that Olivia Troye, a former top adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, will also feature in the special.

Troye has previously blasted Trump for his response to the coronavirus pandemic revealing last month that he knew the devastating impact the virus would have by mid-February but continued to downplay it to the American people.

'He didn't want to hear it, because his biggest concern was that we were in an election year,' she said in a video released in September.

More than 218,000 Americans have been killed in the pandemic and more than 8 million have been infected.

The fresh criticism from people who have worked closely with Trump comes as a former longtime Trump executive has claimed the president once made her fire a woman for being pregnant, joked to Jewish businessmen about 'the ovens' and banned black people from the lobbies of his buildings.

Barbara Res has accused Donald Trump of a catalogue of racist, sexist and anti-Semitic behavior in her bombshell new book 'Tower of Lies' due for release on October 20.

She claims he once raged at her when he saw a black construction worker building the New York City complex saying he didn't want 'people to think Trump Tower is being built by black people.'

Kelly and Trump have had a fraught relationship since the former chief of staff exited the White House last year.

Kelly weighed in on Trump's response to anti-racism protests earlier this year, when former Defense Secretary James Mattis blasted that he was the only president 'who does not try to unite the American people'.

Kelly said he agreed with Mattis telling former Trump communications director Anthony Scaramucci Mattis is 'quite a man' and saying America ' to look harder at who we elect.'

'What is their character like? What are their ethics?' Kelly said.

'Are they willing, if they're elected, to represent all of their constituents, not just the base, but all of their constituents? And then look at the politics.'

Trump has also hit out at Kelly tweeting in February that he couldn't get rid of him 'fast enough'.

'When I terminated John Kelly, which I couldn't do fast enough, he knew full well that he was way over his head,' Trump said.

'Being Chief of Staff just wasn't for him.

'He came in with a bang, went out with a whimper, but like so many X's, he misses the action & just can't keep his mouth shut.'
