Alleged drink-driver is accused of slamming through the front door of a police station with a can of beer on his ROOF

A driver allegedly more than four times over the drink-drive limit is accused of crashing into a police station with a can of beer on the roof of his car. 

Officers at Katanning Police Station, 277 kilometres south-east of Perth, found the grey Holden Commodore wagon inches from their front door at 12.10am on October 18.

The driver reportedly slammed into the police station after too many drinks - with one even left on the roof of the car.

Two police officers were inside when they heard the car crash into their workplace.  

No one was injured and police said there was only minor property damage following the alleged crash.

The driver allegedly ran away from the crash but later returned to discover their passenger was being held by police.

A 45-year man allegedly returned a breath test more than four times the legal 0.05 blood alcohol content limit. 

The man has been charged with driving under the influence, dangerous driving and a variety of other offences. 

A DUI charge in WA is when a driver has an alcohol reading of 0.15 per cent or higher.

Social media users couldn't help but crack jokes at what had allegedly unfolded.

'At least the guys didn't have to go out of their way to make an arrest,' one social media user said.

Another said: 'Glad those verandah posts bloody strong.'

A third person said: 'New meaning to drive through for breath tests.' 

The 45-year-old man will appear in Katanning Magistrates Court on November 3.
