Newcastle United will assess Dwight Gayle's knee injury ahead of determining their next move in the transfer market.
Andy Carroll is Steve Bruce’s only available striker with the Newcastle boss braced for bad news on Gayle who is to undergo a scan.
The club are also not commenting on the absence of club-record signing Joelinton and fellow forward Yoshinori Muto from their recent training camp in York.

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is among the names under consideration but they face competition for the 28-year-old from the likes of Fulham, West Ham and Tottenham.
Wilson scored nine goals in 39 appearances in all competitions in 2019-20 and cound be persuaded to make a move after the Cherries were relegated to the Championship.
Newcastle have also asked about taking Arsenal defender Rob Holding on loan.
The 24-year-old scored an own goal during the Gunners' 4-1 pre-season friendly victory at MK Dons, and Mikel Arteta is open to offloading the Englishman.
