'Bad Teacher' to CBS: Ari Graynor to star in TV arrangement of R-rated comedy

CBS announced it had ordered the single-camera comedy, based on the Cameron Diaz-starring film, for the 2013-2014 television season. It looks like it's "Bad Teacher" to CBS as the comedy movie is becoming a new sitcom television show. According to Variety on May 22, the "Bad Teacher" TV show will air beginning in the 2013-14 season, the sixth new comedy for the network.

Ari Graynor stars in the series as "an always inappropriate, fearless and unapologetic former trophy wife who masquerades as a teacher in order to find a new man after her wealthy husband leaves her penniless," per CBS.

"Bad Teacher" was a comedy starring Cameron Diaz as a risqué school teacher, inappropriate and unapologetic in the R-rated comedy. While much of the raunchy comedy should tame down for CBS television, the series has a fantastic actress stepping into the Diaz role as Ari Graynor ("Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist") has signed on to star in the series.

Ari previously played Caitlin, Meadow Soprano's troubled college roommate in HBO's "The Sopranos." She also starred as Rachel in Fox's "Fringe." Executive Producers for "Bad Teacher" are Hilary Winston, Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky, Sam Hansen, Jimmy Miller and Michael Lasker.

No air date has been set for the series.
