BBC singing show The Voice might be making its big comeback on Saturday night, but its going to face tough competition from ITV.
Popular light entertainment show Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is being aired in the same 7pm slot, and already has high profile support in the form of Simon Cowell.
While the Geordie duo already have another series of their show commissioned, The Voice is on more shaky ground after getting poor ratings last year.
And TV
talent show king Cowell is clearly doing everything he can to make sure
that viewers tune into ITV, ahead of his Britain's Got Talent launch in
two weeks.
'Watch the show on Saturday! I will be watching Take-away. Apparently there is someone on it who is quite famous,' Cowell told The Daily Star.
He will be making a brief appearance as he helps the presenting duo play a prank on his pal Piers Morgan.
Asked whether he'll be tuning into The Voice on BBC, Cowell simply responded: 'No.'
The Voice is welcoming back coaches Jessie J, Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue this year and the format has been updated in a bid to make the show more exciting.
Another blow for the programme came when last year's winner Leanne Mitchell failed to make an impact in the music industry, with her debut single not making it into the top 40.
A source on the BBC show said: ‘Leanne’s trajectory since The Voice has been a disappointment. She has not been the best advert for the show.’
Ant and Dec's popular programme has been a resounding success this series after their nostalgic rendition of Let's Get Ready To Rhumble looks set to become number one.
