A man has been shot by police after he allegedly charged at a female cop with a weapon.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of the South Gippsland Highway and Turnbull Street, in Alberton, south-east Victoria, at 11.20am on Tuesday.

Victoria Police said a female officer was assaulted during the ordeal, and the man was shot by another officer.
The man was hit in the upper body.
He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The man remains there on Wednesday morning and no charges have been laid at this stage, News Corp reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
