Fox News host Tucker Carlson says he repeatedly invited Donald Trump lawyer Sidney Powell to come back up her claims of vote-rigging but 'she never sent us any evidence'

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called out Donald Trump lawyer Sidney Powell Thursday night on his show after she once again raised startling allegations of a massive nationwide voter fraud but refused to provide any evidence.

The extended monologue came after Powell joined a bizarre press conference with Rudy Giuliani and other Trump lawyers, where the group claimed a 'massive' fraud but said it couldn't provide evidence out of concern for witnesses who have provided sworn affidavits.

Powell, who represents fired national security advisor Mike Flynn, made some of the day's most extraordinary claims – including alleging without evidence that Republicans and Democrats 'paid money to have election results fixed.'

Carlson stopped short of calling Powell's claims outlandish – but he did note that she refused repeated invitations to defend them. 'We invited Sidney Powell on the show. We would have given her the whole hour,” Carlson told his prime time audience.

“But she never sent us any evidence, despite a lot of requests, polite requests. Not a page. When we kept pressing, she got angry and told us to stop contacting her.”

He said his show approached the subject with an open mind.

'We did not dismiss any of it. We don't dismiss anything anymore,' Carlson said.

'This may be the single most open minded show on television.  We literally do UFO segments.'

The Republican senators were critical of claims made during a bizarre Thursday news conference in Washington, DC, where the president's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, made wild allegations of voter fraud while suffering a hair-dye malfunction

He noted Powell's comments that 'I think we'll find he had at least 80 million votes,' then played a long quote where she tried to describe the massive vote-stealing operation aided by left-wing enablers overseas.

'One of its most characteristic features is its ability to flip votes. It can set and run an algorithm that probably ran all over the country to take a certain percentage of votes from President Trump and flip them to President Biden which we might never have uncovered had the votes for pres t not been so overwhelming in so many of these states that it broke the algorithm that had been plugged into the system, and that's what caused them to have to shut down in the states they shut down in' she said at the press conference at RNC headquarters in Washington.

Carlson noted that the plot 'would amount to the single greatest crime in American history.'

But Powell never provided the evidence, then shut down communications.

'She never demonstrated that a single actual vote was moved illegitimately by software from one candidate to another. Not one,' he said.

Also pushing back was Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst, who was reelected Nov. 3 and who usually doesn't allow distance between herself and Trump.

She spoke to Fox News Radio by Guy Benson and tore into Powell's comment that '‘We have no idea how many Republican or Democratic candidates in any state across the country paid to have the system rigged to work for them.'

‘That is an offensive comment,’ Ernst said.

‘For those of us that do stand up and represent our state in a dignified manner, we believe in the honesty, we believe in the integrity of our election system.’

Ernst added: ‘I do believe that if there is fraud out there, it should be brought to the courts’ attention... I think all of us agree on that.

‘But to insinuate that Republican and Democratic candidates paid to throw off this election, I think is absolutely outrageous.’

Another Republican senator, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, also offered a critical assessment of the news conference in which Powell made her allegation.

'Based on what I’ve read in their filings, when Trump campaign lawyers have stood before courts under oath, they have repeatedly refused to actually allege grand fraud - because there are legal consequences for lying to judges,' Sasse said in a statement to National Review.

'Wild press conferences erode public trust.'

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney tweeted: ‘Having failed to make even a plausible case of widespread fraud or conspiracy before any court of law, the President has now resorted to overt pressure on state and local officials to subvert the will of the people and overturn the election.

‘It is difficult to imagine a worse, more undemocratic action by a sitting American President.’

In her series of bizarre claims, Powell said Hugo Chavez (who died in 2013) was part of a group of communists from China and Venezuela helping to rig the election in Joe Biden's favor.

She also claimed that operators of Dominion voting machines went in and injected votes for Biden while deleting votes for Trump. She has shown no proof of her claims.

She as said she will 'release the Kraken' when it comes to proving voter fraud - a phrase that trended on Twitter.
