Trisha Goddard's daughter Billie Dee admits her mum is 'apprehensive' about her signing up for The Bridge after overcoming drug addiction

Trisha Goddard's daughter Billie Dee Gianfrancesco has revealed her mum is 'apprehensive' about her signing up for The Bridge.

The publicist, 30, admitted the broadcaster, 62, has had doubts about her taking part in the gruelling show, which sees contestants join forces to build a bridge in the countryside in the hope of winning a £100,000 prize.

Billie has spoken openly about her struggles with drug and alcohol addiction since she was a teenager, and added that if she wins the show, she'll use the prize money to help those with similar issues.

Billie will join 11 others tasked with building a bridge in the heart of the English countryside, and admitted her mum has had doubts about her taking part in the reality TV show.

She told The Sun: 'Mum is apprehensive, but also encouraging. She's nervous about reality shows in general, but she is supportive and understands I'm in a bit of a rut in life.

'I don't really care what people think of me because I'm happy with who I am and how far I've come. My biggest concern is it could reflect on my mum. But, apart from that it's a new experience.'

Billie also said that she'd like to use the six-figure prize money to help others, saying: 'The most fulfilling stuff I've done in the last three or four years is supporting those going through drug and alcohol recovery. I'd want to use the money to support those going through things I've been through in the past.'

Last year Billie spoke about her struggles with addiction, after first tasting alcohol at the age of 12 during a family holiday in the Caribbean.

Billi said she started 'glugging' spirits whenever she felt sad and got hooked to prescription painkillers after her mother accidentally gave them to her for period pain.

In her later years she binged on wine, MDMA, cocaine and cannabis, while racking up £25,000 in payday loan debt.

After years of struggle Billie finally sought help last year and has been in drug and alcohol recovery since July.

But she said her relationship with her mother is still marred by her 'guilt' she was 'off solving everyone else's problems', though she added they still have a good relationship.

She told The Mirror: 'I think she's proud of me but feels guilty, as when I needed her she was off solving everyone else's problems. She wasn't present enough to help me deal with mine.'

Trisha has daughters Billie and Madison, 26, with her second husband Mark Grieve, who she was married to from 1993 to 1996.
