A man has admitted trying to kill two elderly women in horrific and 'motiveless' knife attacks - stabbing one of them nine times, and cutting the throat of the other.
Jayden Hayes, 24, struck twice in Oldham, Greater Manchester, in separate incidents three weeks apart.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder at Manchester Crown Court.
Hayes, of Verne Drive, Oldham, appeared via videolink.

The first offence occurred on November 1, 2019, when a 61-year-old woman was attacked on Longfield Crescent in Oldham. The victim was stabbed nine times but incredibly survived. (Pictured, the scene of the attack)
He was charged with two offences of attempted murder dating back to November last year.

The second incident took place on November 20 when a 71-year-old woman was attacked by a man with a knife in an alleyway off Stoneleigh Street, in Derker, Oldham.
In that attack, the victim had her throat cut.
Two weeks after the attacks, which were half a mile apart, police issued CCTV in a bid to catch the culprit.
They released footage of a man they wanted to speak to. In both clips, he was riding a bicycle and in one got rid of clothing.

It captured Hayes dumping a jacket in a garden after he stabbed the first victim.
The first attack happened at about 6.30pm. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries but recovered.
At the time, Detective Chief Inspector James Faulkner said: 'These were violent and motiveless attacks that has left two vulnerable women fearing for their safety.'
In the second attack Hayes struck at 6pm. He will be sentenced on January 7.
