'I had to remind him that he was a black person': Chelsea Handler explains why she called out 50 Cent for endorsing Trump over Biden's supposed tax hikes for the rich

Chelsea Handler said she was compelled to scold her ex-boyfriend 50 Cent to remind him that 'he's a black person, so he can't vote for Trump' and said she'd 'go for another spin' if the rapper 'publicly denounces' the president.

Earlier in the week, the comedian made headlines for taking the rapper to task on Twitter after he endorsed Trump for reelection over word of a 62 per cent tax that Joe Biden supposedly wants to put on people making over $400,000 in New York City.

'Hey f**ker! I will pay your taxes in exchange for you coming to your senses. Happily! Black lives matter. That’s you, f**ker! Remember?' Handler tweeted to 50 Cent on Wednesday.

On Friday, Handler explained why she lashed out at her ex-boyfriend, 50 Cent, who she had dated in 2010, according to reports.

'So he doesn't want to pay 62 percent in taxes because he doesn't want to go from "50 Cent" to "20 Cent" and I had to remind him that he was a black person, so he can’t vote for Donald Trump and that he shouldn't be influencing an entire swath of people who may listen to him because he's worried about his own personal pocketbook,' Handler told Jimmy Fallon during her Tonight Show interview.

Handler mentioned that the supposed tax hike that 50 Cent had referred to while supporting Trump 'isn't a plan' that Biden was proposing. 'That's a lie,' she said.

Although Handler said she hadn't 'heard back' from 50 Cent yet, she said that she might be willing to offer him an incentive to change his mind about supporting Trump.

'I am willing to, you know, seal the deal in more ways than one if he changes his mind and publicly denounces Donald Trump,' Handler told Fallon. 'I may be willing to go for another spin if you know what I'm talking about.'

The Twitter incident started on Monday when 50 Cent tweeted out a screengrab of a news report listing supposed tax hikes that Biden would put on high income individuals in various states and cities.

The list included New York State at 58 per cent, NYC at 62 per cent and California at 72.6 per cent and New Jersey at 60 per cent.

'WHAT THE F**K! (VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT,' 50 Cent tweeted, going on to add 'F**K NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway. I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% are you out of ya f**king mind.'

'I guess 50 cent don't wanna end up 20 cent,' a social media user tweeted, prompting the rapper to write: 'Yeah, i don’t want to be 20cent. 62% is a very, very, bad idea. i don’t like it.'

Handler then responded to his original tweet by writing: 'You used to be my favorite ex-boyfriend.'

'Oh my God this is effecting my love life now,' 50 Cent replied. '@chelseahandler I love ya Gator, don’t let Trump and Joe Biden come between us girl.'

Handler's response was to offer to pay 50 Cent's taxes, remind him that 'Black lives matter. That's you, f**ker! Remember?'

50 Cent filed for bankruptcy in 2015, a fact that he referenced on social media, about 45 minutes before his initial tweet about supporting Trump over the supposed Biden tax numbers.

'I just remembered i’m bankrupt, so i’m looking for a gracious loan can anyone help a brother out. LOL,' he wrote.

The current top U.S. statutory tax rate is 37 per cent with the average earner in the highest tax bracket paying 26.8 per cent after taking into account tax breaks, including loopholes, deductions, exemptions, credits and preferential rates.

Biden has pledged to hike taxes said for those earning more than $400,000, but has insisted there will be 'no new taxes' beyond that.

This isn't the first time that 50 Cent has supported Trump.

In March 2016, 50 Cent posted a photograph of himself with Trump, alongside the caption: 'Me and My President maybe, only in America'.
