Huge 5.7 magnitude earthquake rocks Australia

 A 5.7-magnitude earthquake that struck in Indonesia's Banda Sea has rattled Darwin.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 180km about 1.15pm Darwin time on Sunday, Geoscience Australia said.

The Bureau of Meteorology says there is no tsunami threat to Australia, or any of its islands or territories.

Darwin residents reported feeling sudden jolts for as long as 30 seconds.

The Northern Territory capital is located approximately 640km south of the earthquake's epicentre.
