Leading Democrats at the U.S. Congress on Sunday called on leading Postal Service officials such as Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to insist on service changes which have stoked fears they're geared toward holding mail-in Nov. 3 election ballots. "The Postmaster General and best Postal Service leadership has to reply to the Congress and the American public as to why they're pushing these new policies which threaten to silence the voices of countless, just months prior to the election" Trump himself Thursday said he'd held talks with Congress within a new round of coronavirus stimulation financing to prevent Democrats from providing more capital for mail-in election and voting infrastructure.
Trump afterwards walked back those remarks, saying he wouldn't veto a bill which included funding for the Postal Service, and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told CNN on Sunday said he'd consent to $10 billion to $25 billion in new Postal funding.
Pelosi may remember lawmakers out of a summer recess to deal with changes in the Postal Service a Democratic congressional aide said on Saturday.
