Robert Griffin III fans discover his wedding registry and bombard him with gifts (but does he really need others to buy him $1.99 napkins?)

Hail to the Redskins - and their weddings!

Robert Griffin III, the quarterback cheered as the savior of the Redskins franchise, has been inundated with gifts from fans who discovered the wedding registry between him and fiance Rebecca Liddicoat on Bed, Bath & Beyond's website.

Griffin posted a photo of the gifts, which run the gamut from cheap napkins to pricey outdoor seating, onto his Twitter account which ignited off-season NFL controversy.

Griffin posted this photo of all the gifts to Twitter but seemed agitated when it garnered criticism

Griffin III also took to Twitter to vent his frustrations

Griffin met Liddicoat, a native of Boulder, CO, while they were both students at Baylor University

The registry which is under 'Rebecca Liddicoat and Robert Griffin' lists the wedding as July 6, 2013. The gits (which are mostly fulfilled) are the standard for newlyweds: tabletop, kitchenware, bath towels and a number of other items any young couple would utilize.

It should probably not be such a surprise that the most rabid of D.C.'s biggest fans would want to show appreciation for Griffin's upcoming nuptials.

As the story began to unfold nationally, Griffin balked at the backlash.

He took to Twitter to express his frustrations, posting 'Because you are rich you are not allowed to receive gifts and any gifts you receive should be donated to charity???? #WOW Smh...'

A majority of those replies to the tweet were overwhelmingly positive affirmations from fans. Even NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski wrote 'feel bad for this guy now.'

Griffin suffered a gruesome injury to his right leg last January during a playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks

Griffin's mother spilled the beans about wedding plans to a local D.C. station earlier this month

Controversial ESPN contributor Stephen A. Smith had harsh words for Liddicoat whom he faulted for the registry debacle.

'You’re a woman, you’re messing with a high-profile – I shouldn’t say messing – you’re involved with a high-profile dude. He has no business being a part of the wedding registry. Handle it yourself. He’s RGIII.'

Though Griffin is set to be married in July, his fans are likely more concerned about whether he will be ready for the season opener in September.

Their phenom quarterback suffered a brutal injury during the Redskins playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks in January. However, according to sources with the team, Griffin should be back to full strength in time for the NFL season.
