A suspect in a brutal killing of a 91-year-old New York man appeared in court on Thursday to face a slew of felony charges, including murder and assault. 

Luis Bonilla, 32, was transported to Bronx Criminal Court for his arraignment, which was then continued until Friday morning.

Bonilla, a parolee, is accused of attacking Nicholas Rappa, tying him up and beating him to death after posing as a construction worker to gain access to his home in the Pelham Gardens section of The Bronx last week.

Bonilla was arrested on Monday on a charges that included first-degree murder; burglary of a dwelling causing injury; manslaughter; first-degree robbery, and assault with intent to cause serious injury.

During his brief court appearance on Thursday, where a DailyMail.com photographer was present, Bonilla loudly demanded that media be removed from the courtroom.

'I don't want my face on TV,' he said. 

The presiding judge explained to him that he allowed his arraignment to be televised because he finds it to be 'in the interest of justice.'

Bonilla, dressed in a black-hooded sweatshirt, glared over his face mask during the brief appearance, which concluded with the judge's ruling to adjourn the arraignment until Friday. 

The suspect faces additional counts in connection with an unrelated violent incident that took place last month, and also while in custody earlier this week.

Bonilla was accused of committing assault on July 18, records show. Details of that incident were not immediately available.

While Bonilla was in custody on Wednesday, he apparently had a run-in with a corrections officer, resulting in additional charges of aggravated harassment of an employee by an inmate and unlawful maintaining of premises.  

Bonilla dressed up as a construction worker to get inside Rapp's home, cops said. 

The elderly homeowner attempted to fight back against the burglar but was beaten to the ground. 

They allege that Bonilla tied Rappa's hands and feet to keep him from escaping, and put a towel over his mouth, which appears to have caused Rappa's death.

Surveillance footage of the area shows a man - identified by police as Bonilla - running toward a white pickup truck just moments after Rappa had been killed. 

He can be seen throwing what appear to be boxes into the back of the truck before driving away. 

Police claim Bonilla had been casing the neighborhood in his costume, complete with a traffic vest, pants with reflective strips and a hard hat, ABC 7 reports. 

Bonilla had allegedly been telling residents that he was checking meters in the area.  

A tip from the video led police to Bonilla on Monday, at a bodega at East 193rd Street and Webster Avenue. 

After a foot chase, police were able to apprehend Bonilla, who was taken to a hospital for treatment for drug use. 

Bonilla has a prior criminal history. In January, he was released on parole after serving four years for a 2017 robbery where he pepper-sprayed a woman while stealing her purse. 

Rappa was a retired construction worker who lived with his 96-year-old wife, who he helped care for in their old age, neighbors told the New York Daily News.

'He built Co-op City. He used to tell us stories about working there. He took care of his wife,' said Paul Dock, 46, also a construction worker. 

'She could only go from her bed to the kitchen table. He was a good man.

Rappa's neighbor, 64-year-old Robert D'Alessandro, told the news outlet that a tenant Rappa's body in the garage, which was open, the neighbor added. 

'He started calling 'Nick! Nick!' And he saw him in the rear, tied up and dead.' 

'If you wanted to rob him at 91-years-old, you could've tied him up and left him there somebody would have found him,' neighbor Adele Farina told ABC 7. 'To beat him like that, absolutely unnecessary. I can't fathom what you have in your heart to do something like that.'
