An experienced hiker has been missing for more than 16 hours in a rugged national park in southeast Queensland.

Police say the woman in her 60s became separated from two male relatives on a track at Coongarra Rock in the Mount Walsh National Park near Biggenden about 1.30pm on Sunday.

The men walked to a nearby caravan park to alert authorities and police started a search, but could not find the woman.

The search resumed on Monday morning.
