'You let them through the f*****g door!' MSNBC's Joe Scarborough rages at Capitol Police for letting Trump rioters run rampant when they aggressively cracked down on BLM protesters

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough raged on Thursday morning against Capitol Police in DC for allowing thousands of Trump supporters to run riot with weapons in what has been described as one of the darkest days in American politics and history. Appearing on Morning Joe, the show he hosts with his wife Mika Brzezinski, Scarborough went on a long and angry rant about what transpired on Wednesday.  'I’ve got no questions for Donald Trump, he’s an insurrectionist, there are no questions, he should be arrested today, he should be sent to jail today for insurrection against the United States of America. 'But I do wonder this morning why they weren’t better prepared for this? Why weren’t the Capitol Hill police better prepared for this?' he asked.  Becoming angrier and angrier, he compared the gentle police response on Wednesday to the much tougher line that was taken in the summer during BLM protests.  Furious: Scarboroguh demanded that Trump be arrested and that the Capitol Police f

Are we heading for a K2 calamity? It's the last great conquest in climbing - to scale the 'Savage Mountain'... in winter. Now 70 climbers are racing for the summit

Posted on Instagram on Wednesday via satellite phone link, the message reads: ‘Bad weather . . . but satisfied we got our first acclimatisation round. All members spent two to three nights on the mountain and are now waiting for the next opportunity to go up.’ An attached clip of video shows a desolate vista of wind-battered tents on a narrow plateau between snow-covered escarpments, their peaks obscured by the ‘deteriorating weather’. The message signs off defiantly with a bulging-bicep emoji and the words ‘All is well and greetings from K2 base camp’. As I write this, around 70 climbers — among them cash-rich amateurs but led by two of the greatest mountain men that have ever lived — are engaged in simultaneous expeditions to conquer K2, the second-highest mountain in the world All is well? Not by any rational measure. The post was sent from the slopes of the so-called ‘Savage Mountain’ where, at this time of the year, winds gust at hurricane speed, the temperature can fall to -65c,

'He's a president who has turned into a mad king': Meghan McCain slams Trump and calls for 25th Amendment to be invoked in wake of violent Capitol siege by his supporters

Meghan McCain is calling on her fellow Republicans to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Donald Trump from office in the wake of the violent siege of the US Capitol by his supporters.  The View co-host on Thursday condemned Trump and his supporters after they forced their way past metal security barricades, broke windows and scaled walls to fight their way into the Capitol in a rampage that left four dead. McCain, who is a Republican but has been vocal in her opposition to the current administration, slammed Trump as a 'mad king' and called the riots at the Capitol 'one of America's darkest days'.  'I'm calling on all Republicans and conservatives who still have clout,' the daughter of late Republican Sen John McCain said.  'We have to invoke the 25th Amendment. We cannot withstand this. 'Our country cannot go on like this. We cannot possibly risk the idea that we could have more violence between now and President Biden getting electe

GPs 'charge abused £150 to prove injuries': Domestic violence victims are hit with bill from their doctor for a letter confirming they have been attacked

Victims of domestic violence are being charged more than £150 by GPs for a letter confirming their injuries. The document is often needed to access legal aid and the Government is facing criticism for failing to outlaw the practice. Demanding fees for the letter is allowed by the medical authorities as the service does not fall under doctors’ NHS contracts. The government is facing calls to outlaw the £150 letter to victims of domestic abuse In a House of Lords debate on the Domestic Abuse Bill, opposition spokesman Baroness Wilcox of Newport said: ‘The Government has expressed concern but has failed to act.’ Home Office minister Baroness Williams of Trafford said: ‘While GPs can levy a fee for this service, due to it being classified as private work that sits outside the core GP contract, the BMA has now advised GPs not to charge for such letters.’  She said the Government had made it easier for victims to obtain legal aid – which is only available when a person can prove they are a v

Relatives of Birmingham pub bombing victims are hit with £200 fines for breaking lockdown... by attending a memorial to those killed in the 1974 terrorist horror

Relatives of those killed in the Birmingham pub bombings are fighting Covid fines given to them at a memorial event. Julie Hambleton, whose 18-year-old sister Maxine was killed in the IRA attack, and five others are refusing to pay the £200 fixed penalty notices issued by West Midlands Police. Their lawyers had asked for the fines to be annulled given the ‘sensitivities’ and the fact that they were attending a ‘carefully planned’ event, but the force has refused, meaning the six could now end up in court. Coronavirus cases more than DOUBLE in locked-down Chinese city of 11 million people where travel out is BANNED after new outbreak

Coronavirus cases have more than doubled in a locked-down Chinese city of 11 million people where travel out has been banned after the new outbreak. Shijiazhuang has locked down all residential compounds, shut schools and banned public gatherings after reporting over 100 COVID-19 cases, according to authorities. The cases in Shijiazhuang, the capital of northern China's Hebei Province which surrounds Beijing, are the highest numbers seen in China in over five months. The city, situated 180 miles south-west of China's Beijing capital, started testing the entire population for the novel coronavirus from Wednesday to prevent the spread of the disease, a spokesperson for the local government said.  More than 5,000 testing sites have been set up in the city so that all residents can be tested. In the past, mass testing programmes have been launched when new case clusters are detected to quickly contain such outbreaks - even when they are small. Hebei province reported 120 new cases

Row erupts over NHS bid to shift Covid-19 patients to care homes again to ease burden on hospitals

A furious dispute erupted last night when it emerged care homes may again have to take in hospital patients to help the NHS cope with the coronavirus crisis. Campaigners warn this may lead to a repeat of the ‘disaster’ last spring when infectious patients were sent to care homes and tens of thousands of deaths resulted. Charities and care leaders say they have a ‘horrible sense of déjà-vu’ and it would be a ‘grave mistake’. But NHS bosses say they are running out of beds due to soaring virus admissions and desperately need to offload patients to the care sector. ‘We are now reaching the point where hospital beds are full, community beds are full, and community at-home services are also full,’ said Chris Hopson, head of NHS Providers. What trust leaders are now trying to do is spare capacity in the care and nursing home sector. 10% of foreign criminals can sneak into the UK after fall in number of 'wanted' notices from EU since Brexit

One in ten foreign criminals could now slip across the UK border after a fall in the number of ‘wanted’ notices received from EU nations, it emerged last night. Britain negotiated a comprehensive package of crime and security measures as part of its transition deal with Brussels at the end of last month. But part of the system relies on EU member states sending notices for ‘wanted’ criminals through Interpol, the international policing organisation. Home Office sources said the number of notifications sent through Interpol from EU members since the start of this month is around 90 per cent of what was being received under the old system. One in ten foreign criminals (stock image) could now slip across the UK border after a fall in the number of ‘wanted’ notices received from EU nations, it emerged last night The potential information gap raises questions about foreign criminals being able to enter this country undetected because they have not been flagged by police or security services

Facebook BANS Trump's account until at least Inauguration Day as Mark Zuckerberg says president 'used our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government’ amid Capitol riots - but will Twitter also take action?

President Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts will remain locked until at least January 20th amid fears that he will incite more violence, after his supporters stormed the US Capitol building in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. In an extraordinary blog post, Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg accused Trump of using the platform ‘to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government.’ The decision was announced by Zuckerberg on Thursday, and will likely put pressure on Twitter after Trump’s favorite social media platform suspended him for 12 hours on Wednesday evening. Zuckerberg said the president used his Facebook page 'to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building' and that allowing him to freely post in the final 13 days of his term would pose too great a risk.   ‘The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peacefu
