The lockdown ghost towns: More than a MILLION hospitality and retail jobs may vanish by end of the year as venue owners in northern cities brand coronavirus restrictions a 'death sentence' for business

The Covid-19 catastrophe is creating ‘ghost towns’ across Britain and threatens to wipe out more than a million jobs, experts warned last night. A record 11,120 household-name retail outlets and around 125,000 store jobs were lost after the first lockdown supercharged a move away from high streets. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg, with fears the job loss total at shops, pubs and restaurants could soar as new lockdowns are rolled out this winter. London, Essex and York were placed into Tier Two at the weekend, joining areas including Birmingham and Manchester, while Liverpool and Lancashire are already in the most stringent Tier Three. The wedding where Ronnie Kray made a pass at me... and so did Reggie's bride! Never mind all those supermodels, DAVID BAILEY found admirers in Britain's most vicious gangsters. In the final extract from his memoirs, he reveals a VERY awkward encounter

Never mind all those supermodel lovers, DAVID BAILEY found unlikely admirers in Britain’s most vicious gangsters. In the final extract from his rip-roaring memoirs, he reveals a VERY awkward encounter... and fears they took ruthless revenge for him... When I was about 13, my dad got slashed by a knife — he ended up with 68 stitches and a terrible scar down his face. No one would tell me who’d done it: it was a very closely kept family secret — a dangerous piece of information. But years later, my aunt Peggy told me the truth. Dad used to put on dances in East End halls. At one of these, a gang started throwing around beer and causing havoc — so my dad and a friend of his, a copper, threw them out. Later, as my dad was clearing the place up on his own, the gang jumped down from the balcony where they’d been hiding and smashed a pint glass in his face. Ronald and Reginald Kray, then aged 19, got two months inside for that. The gangster twins weren’t really well known at the time, but eno

Thousands rally in Paris in protest at murder of teacher Samuel Paty by refugee Islamist terrorist, 18, who FILMED moment he beheaded him for showing pupils cartoons of Prophet Mohammed and then posted grisly clip online

The French prime minister has joined thousands of demonstrators rallying in tribute to a history teacher who was brutally beheaded at a school near Paris for showing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed to his class.  Samuel Paty, 47, was brutally stabbed to death and beheaded by Aboulakh Anzorov, 18, in a northern suburb of the French capital on Friday afternoon. In Paris, thousands including French Prime Minister Jean Castex gathered to pay tribute to the slain teacher in a defiant show of solidarity at the Place de la Republique.  Some held placards reading 'I am Samuel' that echoed the 'I am Charlie' rallying cry after the 2015 attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which published caricatures of Mohammed. A moment's silence was observed across the square, broken by applause and a rendition of La Marseillaise, the French national anthem. Others recited: 'Freedom of expression, freedom to teach.' Demonstrators also gathered in major cities including
