The BBC has angered staff after dumping much-loved presenters from their slots on its biggest local radio station, in a move blamed on the 'religion of diversity'. A 'schedule refresh' to be announced imminently for Radio London will see two of its most popular hosts replaced in their slots by more diverse talent. Vice President Kamala Harris declared that evacuating US citizens and allies out of Afghanistan is the Biden White House's 'highest priority' at a press conference in Vietnam on Thursday. Harris also told reporters that she spent 'almost entire career' on 'the protection of women and children' after critics spent a week pointing out her delay in speaking out about the plight of Afghan women and girls under Taliban rule. It was the second of two stops on the vice president's Southeast Asia tour. Asked about American safety and evacuations in light of the growing threat from an Afghanistan ISIS affiliate, Harris echoed other senior Biden officials: 'Our highest priority right now is evacuating American citizens, evacuating Afghans who worked with us and Afghans who are at risk, with a priority around women and children.' 'It is a dangerous and difficult mission, but it must be seen through, and we intend to see it through as best as we can.

The EU's former chief negotiator on Brexit, Michel Barnier has announced he plans to stand as a right-wing candidate against centrist President Emmanuel Macron in next year's presidential elections. 'In these grave times, I have taken the decision and have the determination to stand... and be the president of a France that is reconciled, to respect the French and have France respected,' he told the evening news show of TF1 television in a live interview on Thursday.  Barnier, who is entering an increasingly crowded field on the right, cited his long experience in politics as giving him an edge in the race including the 'extraordinary' negotiations to find a deal on Britain's exit from the European Union. He said during the years-long process he had to work 'with heads of state and government to preserve the unity of all the European countries'. Asked why he wanted to challenge Macron - with whom he had worked closely in the Brexit process - Barnier r

'It's time to die': Chilling words of drugged-up UPS driver in Miami 'who pointed a gun at a BABY before shooting dead his father who shielded his son with his own body': Is held without bond after court appearance

Harrowing new details have emerged in connection with the deadly shooting that claimed the life of a young father in Miami Beach on Tuesday, including how the suspected killer pointed a gun at the victim's one-year-old son and said, 'It's time to die.'  Tamarius Davis, 22, a UPS driver from Georgia, was arrested on a count of murder for allegedly gunning down Dustin Wakefield, 21, who was visiting Miami Beach with his family, including his wife and baby son. Wakefield's uncle, Michael Wakefield, told DailyMail.com on Thursday that the gunman, whom he slammed as a 'dirt bag,' approached his nephew and other relatives at random as they were having dinner at an outdoor Mexican restaurant on Ocean Drive.  'The suspect came up to Dustin and said “ it’s time to die”,' Michael recounted in a Facebook Messenger exchange. 'The suspect pointed the gun at my nephew' son then Dustin replied back to him saying “he’s just a baby” and then Dustin stood in f

Apple's billionaire CEO Tim Cook to receive last 5 million shares worth $750 MILLION this week in final payout of 2011 deal after making the $2.5 trillion company the most valuable in the world

Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to receive his tenth and final payout this week in the  stock grant of his 2011 contract, earning him a total of $750 million in company stock. After taking over the job 10 years ago from Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, Cook, 60, has made himself, Apple shareholders and the company extremely wealthy. The Apple executive, whose net worth sits around $1.5 billion, was initially considered an odd choice to replace Jobs at the time he stepped down. Cook did not match his predecessor's long-reaching notoriety and star power.   However, the company has thrived under Cook's leadership, with stock prices spiking and revenue doubling. Apple shares have returned over 1,100 percent, making for a market value $2.45 trillion. It is the most valuable company in the world, The Economist reports. This last payout of roughly 5 million shares, which equates to about $750 million, is the result of Cook meeting a quota by surpassing at least two-thirds of the companies on th

'Cowardly' South Dakota AG is fined less than $5,000 - and gets NO jail time - for fatal hit-and-run of man he claimed he 'thought was a deer': Victim's face and glasses came through windscreen

South Dakota's attorney general will have to pay less than $5,000 in fines and was spared jail for running over and killing a pedestrian he says he thought was a deer, a judge ruled Thursday. Jason Ravnsborg pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor traffic charges of using a mobile phone while driving and failing to stay in his lane the night he killed Joseph Boever, 55, last September.  The attorney general was not present during sentencing, frustrating Boever's family. 'Why, after having to wait nearly a year, do we not have the chance to face him?' Jane Boever, the victim's sister, told the judge. 'His cowardly behavior leaves us frustrated.' On top of his $500 fines, the attorney general must participate in an annual public service event for the next years around the anniversary of Boever's death The family of Joseph Boever, pictured with his wife Jenny, say the sentence handed down to the person who killed them makes them angry Stanley County Courthous

as britain's once pristine walkways and landmarks are left to grow wild why is it time to weed out the eco-zealot councils choking our civic pride?

With its magnificent Regency architecture, totemic Royal Pavilion, and trademark pier, Brighton has long been a city synonymous with civic pride. But take a stroll through the city centre these days and such is the profusion of weed-infested streets you could be forgiven for thinking you had stumbled on to the film set of a post-apocalyptic horror movie. Rogue vegetation is coming up between the cracks in pavements, covering up street signs, and even growing in the middle of the road. Ever since the Green Party took control of the local council and implemented a ban on pesticides, the city has taken on an air of dreadful neglect, leaving residents to negotiate myriad hazards concealed by rampant undergrowth. And two elderly residents have already ended up in hospital after falling victim to the hidden dangers. Their plight sparked a petition against the Greens’ urban rewilding, which has now been signed by hundreds of Brighton residents. The petition declares: ‘The weeds are dangerous
