NBA is investigating Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls for tampering over $85million sign-and-trade deals for Kyle Lowry and Lonzo Ball

The NBA is investigating possible tampering violations involving the Chicago Bulls' acquisition of Lonzo Ball and the Miami Heat's addition of All-Star guard Kyle Lowry. Both sign-and-trade deals had been rumored for weeks ahead of their completion, but by league rules, teams aren't allowed to negotiate with players under contract with other teams until free agency begins. Furthermore, teams are also prohibited from recruiting prospective free agents through the media.  On Saturday ESPN reported the league's probe will examine alleged illegal contact between the teams and players prior to the official opening of free agency this past Monday at 6pm ET. Empty shelves in supermarkets as lorry chiefs beg for 100,000 more delivery drivers to ease delays

Transport bosses yesterday called for the Government to tackle the national truck driver shortage urgently amid fears of more empty supermarket shelves. The Road Haulage Association said bringing in the Army would not be enough amid claims it had been put on standby to help. Food supply chains have been placed under intense stress because of a shortage of around 100,000 HGV drivers. The longstanding crisis has been made worse because of the pingdemic and a lack of workers in food production.  The Government last night said it had no intention of using military support and insisted the move had never been on the table.  Ministers believe the industry is equipped to cope with the crisis itself. Bucket list tourist Janet Kroll, 77, who 'finally made it to Alaska' after retiring was among six people who were killed when their sightseeing plane crashed in a mountainous area of southeast Alaska.  Kroll was on the plane with mother and daughter Andrea McArthur, 55, and Rachel McArthur, 20, who were on a 'girls trip', as well as Napa couple Mark Henderson, 69, and Jacquelyn Komplin, 60, when it crashed on Thursday. The pilot, identified as Rolf Lanzendorfer, 64, also died when the aircraft, a De Havilland Beaver, went down as they were all returning to the port town of Ketchikan from Misty Fjords National Monument. There were no survivors in the crash. A top psychiatrist and father of two has died two weeks after he was attacked in the grounds of Cardiff Castle. Dr Gary Jenkins, 54, from Cardiff Bay, was left fighting for his life following the early hours attack.  He tragically died on August 5 at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, 16 days after the attack - leaving behind his devastated family. Three people - including a 16-year-old girl - have been charged with attempted murder. The charges are expected to be reviewed following his death. Both the governor, who is facing increasing calls to resign in the wake of a scathing 168-page attorney general's report saying that he sexually harassed 11 women while in office, has contracted legal firm Arnold and Porter. It is the same company that represents Time's Up, a charity that raises money to support victims of sexual harassment which was set up in the wake of the Me Too movement. According to financial disclosure forms obtained by FOX News, the Time's Up Foundation - the organization's 'industry and impact arm' - has spent over $100,000 on legal services with the firm in 2019. Time's Up Now, Inc., the lobbying end of the charity, meanwhile, paid $454,000 on legal fees with Arnold and Porter in 2019 and more than $719,00 in 2018. Australia approves highly effective Moderna Covid-19 jab for over 18s - adding 25 million doses to national vaccine orders

Australia's beleaguered vaccine rollout has been given a shot in the arm with the approval of the highly effective Moderna coronavirus jab. One million doses will arrive next month after the American vaccine was given provisional approval by the Therapeutic Goods Administration on Monday afternoon. The vaccine requires two doses 28 days apart and latest data from the US shows it is 93 per cent effective against Covid-19 infection, 98 per cent effective against severe disease and 100 per cent effective against death.  Australia has approved the Modern coronavirus vaccine.
