'They're not going to strong-arm me into getting a shot': Miami Dolphins tight end Adam Shaheen accuses NFL of 'taking away freedoms' of unvaccinated players with testing and mask mandates

Miami Dolphins tight end Adam Shaheen insisted he will not let the NFL 'strong-arm' him into getting a COVID-19 vaccine and accused the league of 'taking away freedoms' by making unvaccinated players take extra precautions. 'For me, it's a personal choice, and it's bigger than just COVID,' Shaheen told reporters after practice on Saturday.  'The NFL is trying to push it. ... I'm going to continue to go through the protocols of the unvaccinated that they make me do. I'm not going to get fined.' Shaheen, 26, came off the COVID-19 list Thursday after being placed on it due to being in close contact with tight ends coach George Godsey, who tested positive last weekend despite being vaccinated. Government scientist who questioned 'risk-benefit ratio' of vaccinating 12 to 15-year-olds leaves role on Covid advisory board

Professor Robert Dingwall told MailOnline the risk-benefit for vaccinating children is 'increasingly precarious' as you move down the age groups A scientist who questioned the 'risk-benefit ratio' of giving young teenagers the coronavirus jab has left the government's expert committee on vaccination - but insists he was not forced out.  The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation is 'refreshing' the membership of its Covid subcommittee as Professor Robert Dingwall, a critic of giving the shots to children, leaves the body.    Several JCVI members have told the Guardian that mainstream sentiment is still extremely cautious about proposals to vaccinate 12- to 15-year-olds against Covid, despite politicians saying they want the topic to stay under review.  Deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam has said it is 'more likely than less likely' that the list of children eligible for the jab would be expanded.   But Professor Dingwall told Mai

From five years in jail if found guilty to the collapse of his evangelical empire: What Hillsong's multi-millionaire founder Brian Houston being charged with concealing child sex allegations against his dad means for the future of the megachurch

It has been Hillsong's darkest secret for five decades and now the global megachurch itself is on trial - both in court and in the eyes of the world.   Australian police sensationally charged co-founder Brian Houston, 67, in his home state of New South Wales on Thursday.  Houston was accused of concealing his dead father Frank's sexual abuse of seven-year-old boy, after learning of the allegations against his dad in 1999.   Seven years ago, a royal commission found that Frank had confessed to having abusing the young boy during trips to Sydney in 1969 and 1970.  But when the claims eventually came to light Brian didn't report the crimes to NSW Police.  Hillsong's 'global senior pastor' said he will 'vehemently' defend the case in court. But if found guilty, he faces up to five years' jail.    However the fallout from the legal bombshell won't just be confined to intense scrutiny of wealthy and well-connected Houston and the possibility he serves

Return of the handshake: Etiquette experts believe Americans will keep using centuries-old greeting as life returns to normal - despite Fauci predicting it would be banned forever

Etiquette experts say the age-old handshake is not going away - despite the nation's leading infectious-disease specialist saying it would be banned forever following the coronavirus pandemic. People throughout the world stopped using the age-old greeting gesture during the pandemic in an effort to stop the spread of the virus, while others in the United States continued to shake hands to be polite. Now, as workers return to the office, friends reunite and more church services shift from Zoom to in person, this exact question is befuddling growing numbers of people: to shake or not to shake? Hand-shaking has been a universal greeting gesture for years The handshake has been around for centuries. A widely held belief is that it originated to prove to someone that a person was offering peace and not holding a hidden weapon. But hands can be germy - coated with fecal matter and E. coli. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation´s leading infectious disease expert, cautioned last year, 'I don´

Cori Bush refuses to back down over her call to defund police in rambling CNN interview but DOES admits Democrats have to 'work on their message and comms'

Cori Bush said in a rambling interview Sunday morning that the Democratic Party needs to 'work on comms' as she defended her calls to 'defund police' despite criticism for spending $70,000 on personal security. The Missouri congresswoman was asked by CNN State of the Union guest host Dana Bash why she had a security detail but believes police should be defunded. 'I think what we have to look at is the fact that I made it to Congress in 2020, I was elected to Congress, and we are still fighting this same fight. We're still fighting to save black lives. That was not – that work was not done before I got here,' she said while avoiding answering the question. 'This is the reason why I ran, was to save lives, to save my son's life,' she dodged. The incoherent and confusing response saw the congresswoman defending her previous comments, blaming the Democrat party for a messaging issue and claiming congressional inaction has cost black people their live
