Jerry Falwell Jr. spent millions in Liberty University money to regularly promote Donald Trump, hiring his allies and paying for political adverts, according to a report by Politico. The disgraced former president and chancellor of Liberty, who resigned in August amid allegations of an extra marital affair, is said to have used the funds to set up a university-funded campus 'think tank' in 2019.  Politico reports how Fawell, one of Trump's most vocal and ardent supporters in the 2016 election, created the Falkirk Center on campus to promote the Republican and his supporters. It then hired one of Trump's former advisers as well as his current attorney Jenna Ellis, the news site says. It has been pushing Trump's baseless election fraud claims since his defeat to Biden using social media and podcasts, the report also claims.  Politico also details how the Falkirk Center bought at least $50,000 in Facebook adverts to promote Trump and other GOP hopefuls; the uni gave mo

Carnage on Australia's east coast as monster storm wipes out a house, washes a surf club out to sea and destroys tourist beaches - and a terrifying map shows the worst is yet to come

A monster storm that has smashed Australia's east coast is set to continue with torrential rains and damaging winds. The Bureau of Meteorology warned that major coastal erosion that has hit the coast from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour will soon spread further south. Incredible footage showed the Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club on the Gold Coast cut off from the land and surrounded by sea on Monday. Giant waves tore away the low-lying isthmus that connected Elephant Rock against which the club was built from the mainland, cutting it off from the beach. Both Queensland and New South Wales have been warned to expect 'damaging winds and heavy rainfall', with further coastal erosion and flooding expected. Residents in north-eastern NSW have been told to prepare for an evacuation on Tuesday morning, with flooding set to smash the banks of Tweed River at South Murwillumbah and Tumbulgum.  Further south at Byron Bay, the tide is set to reach its peak at 9.30am today, with

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has ordered London school to stay open after Labour-led Greenwich council told local classes to move online from tomorrow.  Tonight Mr Williamson issued a temporary continuity direction to Greenwich council, the Department for Education confirmed.  Should the south east London council ignore the letter, Mr Williamson will be able to enforce the direction through a High Court injunction. Islington council, which made a similar request to schools today, has not received a letter from the Department from Education as yet, but the DfE said the Regional Schools Commissioner had spoken with the local authority.  Speaking tonight, the Education Secretary said: 'It is simply not in children's best interests for schools in Greenwich, Islington or elsewhere to close their doors.  'Schools and colleges up and down the country in all tiers have shown incredible resilience in the face of this pandemic - and it's down to the hard work of teachers
