How the government plans to use YOUR credit card details to track visits to coronavirus hotspots, despite enforcing check-in technology at all restaurants, bars and cafes

The federal government is planning to use credit card payments to track coronavirus outbreaks - despite already encouraging diners to check-in at restaurants, bars and cafes with QR codes.  Australia's contact tracing methods were analysed by chief scientist Alan Finkel in the National Contact Tracing Review, which was shared with the National Cabinet on Friday.  The report provided a series of recommendations to continue to proactively fight the global health crisis.  While registering at public venues is already expected at most establishments, the report said the government could also use technology to track hotspots through bank statements. Rishi Sunak in bid to curb foreign aid budget: Chancellor wants 0.7% target axed as he struggles with public finance crisis

Rishi Sunak wants to shelve the foreign aid target as he struggles with the crisis in public finances, the Mail can reveal. The Chancellor and the Prime Minister will meet next week to decide the fate of the country’s overseas handouts ahead of the Spending Review. The UK is legally committed to spending 0.7 per cent of national income on aid, with the controversial bill surpassing £15 billion for the first time last year. Ministers could scrap the target altogether, decide not to meet it on a temporary basis, or rewrite the rules so more government spending is counted as aid. Foreign aid and military spending are understood to be the last remaining issues to be resolved ahead of the announcement of the review on November 25. Nurses are being let into care homes WITHOUT coronavirus tests in loophole that makes a mockery of the system, warns chairman of National Care Association

Nurses are being allowed to visit care homes to see residents without being tested for coronavirus, in what has been branded an unfair and risky loophole. The alarming discrepancy means health workers can walk in and out of different homes every day without any need to prove they are not infectious. Even inspectors from the Care Quality Commission watchdog have the right of entry to residential homes for the elderly without being tested regularly. It means that across the 11,000 care homes in England, there will be hundreds of thousands of contacts every week between residents and visiting health staff who have not been tested. Nurses are being allowed to visit care homes to see residents without being tested for coronavirus, in what has been branded an unfair and risky loophole File By contrast, relatives who are granted exceptional ‘end of life’ visits to see a dying loved one have to take tests and have their temperature checked before they are let in. And staff have to take tests e

New Alabama GOP senator Tommy Tuberville says his WWII GI grandfather liberated Paris from 'communism,' claims Al Gore was president-elect in 2000 and says he needs six months to 'learn the rules' of the Senate

New elected Tommy Tuberville has already committed a number of flubs botching such critical subjects as the U.S. ideological enemy of World War II and the structure of American government – and he hasn't even been sworn in as a senator yet. Tuberville, the retired football coach, defeated incumbent Doug Jones, an attorney and prosecutor who helped put away Klan members for the 1963 church bombing. Although he was a hero at Auburn, Tuberville must have made faculty at numerous departments cringe with his series of flubs.  Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville of Alabama botched the three branches of government in an interview where he also wrongly said the U.S. fought against socialism in World War II In the first, after attending orientation for new lawmakers, he botched the famed three branches of government, which is central to the structure of American governance.  'I don't care if you're a Republican or Democrat,' he told the Alabama Daily News. The £26 MILLION heist: How Tamara Ecclestone and Frank Lampard ‘fell prey to gang of crooks who flew in to stage raids on some of London’s most exclusive homes’

An international gang flew into the UK to carry out a burglary spree on the homes of the rich and famous including Formula 1 heiress Tamara Ecclestone, a court heard. The alleged thieves stole £26million in jewellery and cash in the 13-day blitz which also targeted footballer Frank Lampard and the billionaire owner of Leicester City. The team of eight are said to have blown some of the cash on luxury goods and champagne in the shadow of their victims’ homes in west London before fleeing Britain. The jury in the trial of a mother, son and two others accused of aiding the Italy-based gang heard how they hit the jackpot in the raid on the 55-room mansion where Miss Ecclestone and husband Jay Rutland live. We WILL show families we care this Christmas: Health Secretary Matt Hancock vows to ring-fence supply of Covid swabs for those visiting relatives in care homes - but is it too little too late?

Matt Hancock last night offered families hope on care home testing – but was told by campaigners to move much faster. The Health Secretary has vowed to ring-fence a supply of coronavirus swabs for family visitors in the run-up to Christmas. And he said a pilot scheme at 20 sites would end the need for ‘prison-style’ plastic screens and other restrictions. But care home bosses warned the trial did not go far enough or fast enough. They pleaded with ministers to roll out rapid tests to all sites immediately. Campaigners say the health of many residents in the nation’s 12,000 care homes is quickly deteriorating and they cannot wait another day to see loved ones. ‘Every day without tests is another lost opportunity for people who haven’t got long left in life to see their families,’ said Nadra Ahmed of the National Care Association.
