'It is insulting': Furious female MPs shut down male senator in a scathing letter after he called for proposed law to decriminalise abortion to be scrapped

Two South Australian ministers have written a scathing response to a male colleague who slammed their proposal to decriminalise abortion. Deputy Premier Vickie Chapman and  Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink have introduced a bill to remove abortion from the state's criminal code. The move would allow a termination after 22 weeks and six days if two doctors say there is a valid medical reason. Federal senator Alex Antic, who is pro-life, wrote to state Liberal colleagues asking them to vote down the bill. In a blistering response, the ministers accused him of 'insulting' women by 'assuming he knows best' and sarcastically congratulated the 'junior minister' on finally getting 'press attention'.   Deputy Premier Vickie Chapman and Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink  have introduced a bill to remove abortion from the state's criminal code  Currently abortions in South Australia can be illegal if certain conditions are not met. Taxpayers fork out $162,000 to replace just TWO rugs in NSW Government House - with Labor calling the spending 'extraordinary' during a pandemic

Taxpayers are set to pay $162,000 to replace two rugs in one of Australia's most famous historical residences - a figure described by Labor as 'extraordinary'. Jenny Jones Rugs - run by internationally-awarded Perth designer Jenny Jones - has been contracted to provide the pair of hand-woven rugs to Sydney's Government House. The 58 and 19 square-metre rugs billed to the NSW Government's Department of Premier and Cabinet are intended to replace ones which cost $150,000 13 years ago. A heritage expert has defended the designer purchase given the high-profile and 'prestigious' diplomatic events held at the home.  But Labor Opposition spokeswoman Yasmin Catley said the price tag was out of touch given the economic struggles of regular Australians during the COVID-19 crisis. The NSW Government has announced it is spending $162,000 in taxpayer's money to replace two rugs at Sydney's Government House The 58 and 19 square-metre rugs are intended to replace

One in six working-age adults who are hospitalised with coronavirus work for the NHS or have a family member who does, finds study

NHS workers and their relatives account for one in six Covid-19 patients of working age who are hospitalised, a study has found.   Scientists at the University of Glasgow analysed data for hospital admissions among adults aged 18 to 65 in Scotland against the general p.  Healthcare staff in 'patient-facing' roles, such as working in A&E, were three times as likely to be admitted with the disease as the general population.  Their family members were also twice as likely to be hospitalised with the disease, results of the research showed.    Healthcare workers are more susceptible to picking up the infection because they work in close proximity to Covid-19 patients.  They then may unknowingly take the coronavirus to their home, where there are potentially older and more vulnerable people, the researchers warned. Their work highlights the importance of adequate personal protective equipment , such as medical masks, gloves, and goggles, which were in huge shortages in the first

Chris Cuomo on Wednesday night blasted newly-revealed 'Anonymous' author Miles Taylor for lying about his true identity during an August interview with Anderson Cooper, asking the network contributor, 'Why should CNN keep you on the payroll?' The tense exchange came as part of Taylor's first interview since he outed himself earlier Wednesday as the unnamed author of a bombshell 2018 New York Times article that chronicled a 'resistance' within the Trump administration. 'You lied to us, Miles,' Cuomo told the former Department of Homeland Security chief of staff.
