Students taking GCSE and A-level resits in Autumn will benefit from same 'generosity' as their peers in summer, Ofqual confirms

Students who are taking GCSE and A-level resits this Autumn will benefit from the same 'generosity' as that given to their peers in the summer, Ofqual has confirmed. Pupils in England who were unhappy with their grades this year, or who were unable to receive a grade due to the pandemic, have been given the chance to sit A-level exams in October and GCSE exams in November. England's exams regulator has said it is 'working with exam boards to carry forward the generosity from summer 2020 grades', the majority of which were based on grades submitted by schools or colleges. It comes after the fiasco around grading of GCSE and A-level students this summer, when exams were cancelled amid Covid-19. Busy beer gardens but no one inside and up to 75% of tables cancelled: How Tier 2 lockdown left London's bars and restaurants empty on 'horrendous' first weekend of new rules

Pubs and bars in London could go bust this winter after a 'horrendous' first weekend of the capital's tier two lockdown that saw up to 75 per cent of tables cancelled. West End operators said the new measures mean 'pretty much a systematic closure of the sector' with some bar owners warning their industry was 'completely f***ed'. However there were claims that multiple households flouted the ban on not mixing indoors at pubs over the weekend despite the strict new measures since Saturday. Witnesses claimed they saw people hugging and saying 'haven't seen you in ages', while some businesses admitted they do not know how to enforce the latest rules. But some of those following the rules across the capital piled into beer gardens over the weekend where up to six people from multiple households can still gather.  It comes as market research firm Springboard said shopper numbers at British retail destinations dropped for the fourth week in a row amid

Supreme Court says it will hear cases on two of Donald Trump's landmark policies - using Pentagon cash for border wall and 'remain in Mexico policy'

The Supreme Court agreed Monday to hear the Trump administration's appeal of a lower court ruling that it improperly diverted money to build portions of the border wall with Mexico - and a second key immigration policy. The high court has previously allowed construction to continue, even after a federal appeals court ruled in June that the administration had illegally sidestepped Congress in transferring the Defense Department funds. The cases will not be argued before the winter and it's unclear how the outcome of the presidential election would affect the cases, if Democrat Joe Biden wins the White House.  It's also not clear whether the administration has spent all of the $2.5 billion it moved to the wall project.  If Any Coney Barrett is confirmed, she would be expected to take part in both cases.  Military funding: One of the two cases centers on the use of $2.5 billion of unspent Pentagon funds which were reallocated to wall construction  'Remain in Mexico':

Holey cow! Greedy beast sends man flying down a hole in the ground before gobbling up his vegetables in southern India

A man in India got a nasty shock when a cow sent him flying into the air and down a hole in the ground.  Just seconds before, the man was calmly strolling down a street in southern India when the errant beast appeared to take an interest in the vegetables he was carrying.  The cow nudged the man, who moved out of its way before turning to speak to a street vendor.  In that instant, the hangry herbivore approached the man from behind, using its horns to tip him into a hole in the street and sending his vegetables flying into the air. The unbelievable moment was caught on camera in footage apparently taken by a nearby security camera in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh state. As others rush to help the stunned man who appears to be stuck in the hole, the cow turns its attention to the unattended vegetables and begins feasting on the scattered goods. Men come running from a nearby shop and from further up the street and help to pull the man out of the hole. Now sitting in th

Dally M Awards descend into a farce as result is leaked online HOURS before Jack Wighton was crowned the winner - and extraordinary blunder has left NRL and fans fuming

NRL star Jack Wighton won the coveted Dally M Medal on Monday night - but the suspense at the league's pinnacle awards event was spoiled hours earlier when the results were leaked online. The Canberra Raiders five-eighth pipped Parramatta Eels star Clinton Gutherson to first place by a point during the 'virtual count' held at Fox Sports' Sydney studio.  Wighton was among the favourites to be crowned the NRL's best and fairest after a scintillating 13-try season and a call-up to the New South Wales State of Origin side. But what should have been a thrilling build-up to the award's announcement was ruined when Sydney newspaper The Daily Telegraph accidentally published the result on its homepage.  The story published at 5.47pm - three-and-a-half hours before the result was announced at 9.15pm - was titled 'Dally M drama: System needs an urgent overhaul' and had a preview showing Jack Wighton and other favourite Nathan Cleary. ARL Commission chairman Peter
