Another 10 crew from an international cargo ship moored off Western Australia's north-west coast are expected to test positive to coronavirus, amid growing fears the outbreak could spread to the mainland. Nine crew members from iron ore bulk carrier Patricia Oldendorff moored nine nautical miles off Port Hedland have tested positive in recent days, with cases expected to climb on Monday.  Seven infected crew remain on board while 12 crew were transferred to a makeshift hotel quarantine facility in Port Hedland, sparking fears the virus may spread through the port and mining town and into nearby Indigenous communities.  Health minister Roger Cook said the local community should not be worried, despite admitting a day earlier there was a risk of a massive outbreak similar to Melbourne's second wave if it can't be contained. McDonald's customer reveals secret hack to buy a cheeseburger for half the price – but workers will HATE you for it

A McDonald's customer has revealed a sneaky hack for buying a cheeseburger for half price. Josh Garlepp filmed his journey through a McDonald's drive-thru in Perth, Western Australia, and posted it to TikTok on Sunday.  In the video, he asked a restaurant employee whether he could add a slice of cheese to his hamburger, valued at $1.50.  McDonald's cheeseburgers are priced at $3.55 - more than double the cost of a hamburger - but the only difference between the two is a single slice of cheese. In the video, he asked a restaurant employee whether he could add a slice of cheese to his hamburger, valued at $1.50 'Sorry I'm not allowed to do that,' the worker responded, 'Can I get cheese on the side then?' he asked. The staff member agreed and gave the social media user an extra box  cheese on the side for an extra 20c. Mr Garlepp revealed he paid $1.80 for the DIY cheeseburger, saving $1.75. The footage then showed the social media user eagerly putting th

Tory heartlands will have to find space for 1.5million new homes under Government's 'mutant' planning algorithm

The traditionally Conservative heartlands will have to find space for 1.5million new homes under the Government's 'mutant' planning algorithms. The plans will require tens of thousands of extra homes over the next 15 years to be built in rural counties like Kent, Surrey and Devon.  Tory MPs who have been left unimpressed with the proposals have pinned the blame on a 'mutant algorithm'.  The initiative will see an additional five million homes built across England over the next 15 years, with nearly a third in rural counties. According to analysis by the House of Commons library, the target is two million more than that which was previously agreed upon by local councils.  Writing for The Telegraph, Tory MP Bob Seely said: 'We all agree we need to build housing, but we need to build the right housing in the right places. 'The key fact is this: cities across England are being asked to build relatively less compared with the rural and suburban areas around them.

A Bali bombings survivor has opened up about the harrowing moment a suicide terrorist detonated a bomb at her table in a popular beachside bar.  Aleta Lederwasch, from Newcastle, was 21 and on her first trip overseas when she and her family were caught in the horrific blast at Jimbaran Bay on October 1, 2005.    The attack was one of three explosions, two at restaurants at Jimbaran beach and another in Kuta Square, which claimed 20 lives and left more than 100 injured. Aleta Lederwasch , 36, narrowly escaped with her life after being caught in the October 1, 2005, Bali bombing in Jimbaran Bay 'We were sitting on the beach when it happened. Fortunately mum followed me,' Ms Lederwasch told New Idea. As the Australian artist, now 36, ran to escape, flying shrapnel became embedded in the back of her leg, leaving her with a scar fr

Drinking establishments inside Parliament are exempt from the Government's newly imposed 10pm curfew, it has been revealed. Facilities serving alcohol inside the Palace of Westminster are not required to abide by the coronavirus curfew which came into effect this week due to them being classified as a 'workplace canteen'. Boris is besieged: Johnson's enemies spread false rumours about a split from Carrie and friends mutter about his health, as the PM faces rebellions from the Chancellor, Tory MPs - and even his own children

They were the pictures which ratcheted up an already febrile atmosphere on the Tory backbenches – Boris Johnson’s girlfriend Carrie Symonds enjoying a holiday in Italy without the Prime Minister. ‘We thought – uh-oh, trouble at t’mill,’ said one Tory MP. ‘He’s got enough to worry about without a break-up as well.’ Rumours of a split are dismissed by the couple’s friends, who blame Boris’s growing legion of political enemies for spreading the claims to ‘destabilise’ him. It comes at a time when Tory MPs – and even his own Chancellor – are in revolt over the economic devastation caused by Covid laws, as mutterings grow louder about the state of the Prime Minister’s mental, physical and financial health. ‘For God’s sake, she is surely allowed to go on holiday?’ says one. ‘And he is quite busy, you know. Imagine what they would have said if he had taken the time off to be with her.’ The pictures of 32-year-old Ms Symonds relaxing at the £600-a-night Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como carrie

Britain can still seal a trade deal with the EU - but only if Brussels 'gets real', chief Brexit negotiator Lord Frost says following weeks of deadlock

Britain can still 'very much' seal a trade deal with Brussels but only if the EU gets real, the UK's chief Brexit negotiator said last night. Lord Frost appeared to raise hopes of a last-minute breakthrough, saying the past two weeks of informal talks 'have been relatively positive'.  The message came as No 10 confirmed that EU negotiators had backed away from threats of a food blockade on Northern Ireland. But it also comes just 24 hours after reports that the chances of a trade deal by next month's EU summit deadline were no better than 50/50.
