The Noida and Greater Noida authorities have decided to jointly construct of a 1MW solar power plant in Gautam Budh Nagar district. Senior officials of both the authorities held a meeting in Noida recently and have decided to construct the solar plant in Greater Noida.Officials said that Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL), the power distribution company of Greater Noida, will enter into a tripartite MoU with both the authorities to purchase electricity produced at the plant. Green energy purchased by NPCL will help meet its target of procuring renewable energy.The project will be constructed at a cost of around Rs 18.5 crore, which will be borne by Noida Authority. Greater Noida Authority will provide the land required for setting up the plant. After construction, the solar plant will be handed over to NPCL for running and maintenance.Greater Noida Authority officials said that land has already been identified for the project.
