Kathy Ireland, the world's wealthiest model, is set to get even richer as she launches 'comfortable' footwear line
The world's richest model, and former Sports Illustrated cover girl, Kathy Ireland, is expanding her lifestyle and clothing empire to include footwear for the first time.
The 50-year-old is set to launch her own footwear line featuring 'bold colors, fun textures and hardware' for spring 2015 in collaboration with Royal Footwear & Accessories.
And according to WWD, the supermodel turned CEO of Kathy Ireland Worldwide, won't be overlooking comfort, either.
The line, of which Ms Ireland will be chief designer, will include 'flex insoles and lightweight outsoles to add a comfort element to the collection.'
With a multi-billion dollar empire to rival Martha Stewart's, the mother-of-three has continued to grow her fortune since her Sports Illustrated days.
Starting in 1984, Ms Ireland was featured in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for 13 consecutive years, with her final appearance in 1996.
She appeared on the cover three times, surpassed only by Elle Macpherson who has five covers under her belt.
The super model's first cover - the 25th Anniversary Swimsuit Edition - became the magazine's best selling swimsuit issue to date.
In her new role as The Royal Footwear & Accessories Group’s chief designer, Ireland will focus on developing chic and affordable footwear for today’s busy women.
'Our new relationship with The RFA Group is an exciting extension for our fashion assortment,' said Ms Ireland, who also makes 'unique, individual and competitive' wedding gowns, jewelry, and lingerie.
'The RFA Group is an extraordinary company, with incredible leadership, design innovation and commitment to excellence in everything we bring to market; it is a great privilege to serve as chief designer for this amazing company,' she explained.

Ms Ireland, who has a net worth of $350million according to Forbes, started modeling at age 17 and became one of the most popular supermodels of the Eighties.

She has since expanded her brand to include clothing, rugs, ceiling fans, lamps, carpeting, futons and office furniture; and has also produced a series of workout videos and written six books.
