Premier League referees list April 6-8, 2013
Continuing on my theme form last weekend, it is interesting to see that following his failure to award the most basic of penalties to Arsenal in their game against Wigan, Chris Foy is only appointed as fourth official.
And Mark Halsey, the referee who missed Callum McManaman’s ‘x-rated’ tackle the week before, once again finds himself in the Championship.
Without any communication or declaration of support for the referees it would be easy to deduce that both are suffering for perceived errors.
However, when you consider that Foy has been appointed to the prestigious FA Cup semi-final between Chelsea and Manchester City and that Halsey’s Championship game at Watford will probably be a sterner test of refereeing skills than the majority of the Premier League games, you would be hard pressed to assume that these referees continue to enjoy the support of both the Football Association and Premier League.
Given that there are no longer age limits for referees, it will be interesting to see if these over 50-year-old officials will be included on the select list for next season.
Fall guy: Premier League ref Mark Halsey will continue to take charge in the ChampionshipThe one's to watch...
Norwich v Swansea – Saturday (Kick-off: 3pm)Referee: Michael Oliver G19 YC48 RC1Assistants: J Flynn & J Collin. Fourth Official: R Madley
The most impressive referee on the list this year has been the youngest whose development is being carefully and well managed.
This week a low profile game between two footballing sides to hopefully keep his momentum going before his FA Cup semi-final between Millwall and Wigan.
His only game with Swansea this season was their 1-1 draw with Manchester United but with Norwich he has been in charge for two heavy defeats; 4-1 against Aston Villa and 5-0 versus Fulham.
Taking charge: Michael Oliver, who was the man in the middle for last month's 2014 World Cup qualifier between Slovakia and Lithuania, will be at Carrow Road this weekend REST OF THE REFS THIS WEEKENDSATURDAY

Spurs v Everton - Sunday (2.05pm)Referee: Andre Marriner G20 YC63 RC1Assistants: D Bryan & S Massey. Fourth Official: J Moss
A vital game in the race for Champions League places is entrusted to one of the best referees on the list, Andre Marriner who is enjoying another good season.
Previously he refereed Spurs win at home against West Ham and Everton vital home games against Manchester United and Liverpool which produced a 1-0 win and 2-2 draw respectively.
This has every possibility of being a superb game of football which Marriner should enjoy letting flow.
Good to see another top appointment for Sian Massey.
QPR v Wigan – Sunday (4.10pm)Referee: Phil Dowd G19 YC51 RC3Assistants: A Garratt & S Ledger.Fourth Official: M Jones
After his excellent handling of the FA Cup replay between Chelsea and Manchester United last Monday Dowd has the relegation match at Loftus Road.
He has refereed once there this season, the 0-0 draw with Manchester City and recently officiated Wigan’s away 3-0 win at Reading.
He also refereed the first game between these sides at the DW which ended in a very entertaining 2-2 draw.
Neither side has issues with Dowd but that won’t make this an easy game as the atmosphere cranks the pressure up as relegation looms for the home side.
