He may be a knight of the realm, but Sir Elton John was anything but gallant when he dubbed the Queen a 'mean old b****' in a late night comedy sketch.
The singer was the host of ribald sketch show Saturday Night Live and pulled no punches in a series of hilarious skits.
While he kicked off his appearance by joking about himself and the conception of his son in a well-received opening monologue.
It was his comments about the head of the Royal Family which raised eyebrows.
In a no-holds-barred sketch, he played himself as he spoke to the Royal family about playing at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
While the Queen and Prince Phillip spoke reservedly and politely when William was in the room, the moment he stepped out they turned on a strong East London accent as they became loud, obnoxious and rude.
'Unlike you, we haven't forgotten where we came from,' said Prince Phillip, played by Bill Hader.

Discussing his role in the wedding, the Queen, played by Fred Armisen, said: 'We know you play at everything we do, but don't think you can half-ass it.'
The Royals then launched into his use of the song Candle in the Wind at the funeral of Princess Diana.
'You're going to change the words to Candle in the Wind again? Boo-hoo,' mocked Prince Phillip.
'Careful, you freaks!' shouted back Elton.
The Queen then added: 'You know when I see a Candle in the Wind? When I light my farts!'
Elton then called her a 'mean old bitch'.

Sir Elton's bad taste appearance on the show is all the more surprising as he recently revealed that he and partner Furnish would be attending the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at the end of this month.
The singer had said he was not expecting an invite to the wedding despite being a close friend of William’s mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
In an interview on the Marilyn Denis Show in the U.S., Elton was coaxed into admitting he did have an invite to the big day.
Sir Elton added: 'I've been trying to be discreet, yeah, we got an invitation.'

On the 10th anniversary of Diana's death in 2007, Sir Elton opened and closed a Wembley Stadium concert organised by William and his brother Prince Harry in memory of their mother.
Sir Elton also revealed he thinks Kate is like Diana in personality, explaining: 'She is very discreet, she is a very beautiful girl.
'They have been together a long time and I think she has handled the pressure so much.'
However, Sir Elton wasn't shy about sharing his feelings on William giving Kate his mother's engagement ring, and said it was 'a little odd'.

On Saturday Night Live he later moved onto discussing his new status as a father, he said: 'Just a few months ago, my partner David and I became the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy.
'And as you can see, I still haven't lost the baby weight.'
To laughter, he continued: 'So far the baby really takes after me. He screams and cries when he doesn't get his way - and he's had his ups and downs with the bottle.'
Making fun of his fortune, he said: 'The doctors told us that we had a healthy baby with 10 finger, 10 toes and $400m dollars.'
To laughter, he then revealed that his son's Godmother was Lady Gaga, adding: 'That is true, it's no joke.'
With the occasional presence of Tom Hanks, he then took part in a number of sketches making fun of his Britishness.
In one, he was joined by fellow knighted Brits as the Knights of the Realm, brought together to fight a dragon that was attacking London.
In other sketches, he played a gay cowboy, a baddie in a cheap sci-fi movie and half of a gay film critic couple.
