Midfield is the biggest problem area for England and the coaches have some difficult decisions to make, because the way the team are playing is not bringing the best out of Manu Tuilagi.
I think they have to keep Tuilagi in the side because he does things that no one else can do and he does scare opposition players, but he is not being used properly.
At the moment, if nothing else is on, the ball is being passed to him standing still and he is just expected to crash it up.
Make way! Manu Tuilagi wasn't used properly against AustraliaWhat England really need is what the Aussies call a 'second five-eighth' - another playmaker at 12 who has the ability to create space so that Manu can run at opponents' arms, rather than straight into them, with another defender in close support.
If he's just being asked to run so directly, there's no point having him in the team. If they are going to pick Tuilagi, my preference would be for Anthony Allen, who plays alongside him for Leicester, to start at No 12.
He might just be the answer and is someone who could offer Toby Flood decision-making support.
Unfortunately, I don't think the coaches will consider Allen, in which case I'm not sure what the solution would be.
In South Africa, they tried Tuilagi at 12 and Jonathan Joseph at 13, but it didn't really work.
Both those centres will try to create something for themselves and if it isn't on, then they will give the ball to the other one.
Allen is more likely to be selfless and create for others. I don't think playing Manu at inside centre is the answer, because he won't offer Flood any tactical support.

Even the try for Tuilagi came with hangers-on.

All that does is allow him to be closer in, so he can hold his depth and time his run on to the ball better.
Despite this England defeat, it is not the time to make too many changes as that will make it hard to establish any rhythm. But this was a game England should have won.
As it turned out, they were unable to dominate the scrum or nullify Michael Hooper at the breakdown, and they simply didn't seem to play with belief.
The players looked nervous and the game just happened in front of them. England's decision-making was poor.
They kept persisting with the rolling maul, even though the referee let Australia get away with murder by coming in from offside positions, but the real cardinal sin was Ben Youngs' tap-and-go in front of the posts.
Fearsome: Sportsmail's Ben Kay says that Tuilagi's ability scares his opponents ... AND TO CAP IT ALL OFFNew Zealand-born No 8 Thomas 'The Tank Engine' Waldrom used a St George's flag skullcap on his noggin to head off any numbskulls saying his mind is not on England's Tests with teams from Down Under.
He did that for Leicester against Toulouse and was heavily criticised, but he clearly hasn't learned his lesson.
Youngs obviously wanted to come off the bench and prove that's his game but it wasn't a smart call.
This was a bad result for England but I still think they are heading in the right direction.
Everyone was clamouring for kids to be thrown in and this will be a valuable experience for them.
It is far better for young players to learn and improve than for England to lose with a team of old men.
A week ago, Australia were in a worse state than England are now and they turned it around, so there's no reason why England can't improve in time to have a chance of beating South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday.
