Former Yahoo! employee killed after falling from roof during San Francisco's booze-infused 'Bay to Breakers' party

A former Yahoo! employee died over the weekend after falling from the roof of a four-story house in San Francisco while attending a party for the city's annual 'Bay to Breakers' foot race.

'One wrong move': David Hamzeh was killed Sunday after falling from the roof of a four-story home in San Francisco

Authorities say the 28-year-old victim - identified by his employer, Intuit-owned DemandForce, a San Francisco-based online marketing firm, as David Hamzeh - was on the roof of a home in the 2000 block of Fell Street about 3:30 p.m. Sunday when he fell to the pavement about 40 feet below.

"I heard the thwack and then everyone started screaming," a witness told the San Francisco Chronicle. "When I ran down there, he was laying there completely white, so we thought he was gone."

Hamzeh reportedly had been drinking with friends prior to falling from the roof. He was taken to a hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

The 'Bay to Breakers' race is well-known for its hard-partying competitors, and for the booze-infused parties that accompany the race. Many of the runners - referred to as 'bandits' - fail to pay the race's entry fee and often run the race while drunk and wearing elaborate costumes. Some of the 'bandits' run the race while completely nude.

In 2010, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors told the San Francisco Chronicle that of the race's 60,000 runners, nearly half of them failed to pay the entrance fee, including the city's mayor, Gavin Newsom.

Prior to working for DemandForce, Hamzeh worked in Yahoo's! media sales division.

Authorities don't suspect any foul play.
