They are the shoes with a wedge-shaped sole that promise to tone up legs and bums by making your muscles work harder as you walk.
FitFlops have sold millions and proved a hit with celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Nigella Lawson and Sarah Harding.
But no woman ever bought them on the basis of their looks: the original FitFlops were more orthopaedic than elegant.
