Three days after a young married woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men in Barkheda area of Ratlam district, one of the accused was arrested by police on Thursday.
ashrath Singh, 30, a native of Khakhakheri village of Ratlam district was arrested by staff of Barkheda police station on Thursday.Dashrath, along with Man Singh, Bhairo Singh and Pappu Singh, had abducted and then allegedly gang raped a 21-year-old married woman for two days in Barkheda area on April 28 and April 29.The woman managed to escape from their clutches on April 29 night and after that reported the matter to her family in Khakhakheri village the next day.On May 1, the family lodged a complaint of gang rape against the four at Barkheda police station.The victim's family had alleged that Dashrath and his three accomplices had abducted the woman while she had gone to fetch water from a hand pump.The medical examination of the woman also confirmed that the woman was raped."Dashrath Singh has been arrested and efforts are on to nab the remaining three," Ratlam superintendent of police GK Pathak told TOI on Thursday.
