Diane Kruger's reputation as a fashion icon was given another boost yesterday when she was announced as the new face of Chanel beauty.
And as she did her weekly grocery shop she showed just why label boss Karl Lagerfeld had decided she is the best person to advertise the luxury brand.
The 36-year old's make-up free skin looked luminous, supple and healthy as she went about her business on Monday afternoon. 

 

Weekly shop: Diane Kruger was at Whole Foods doing her weekly shop, and looked casual in jeans and flats

Diane looked casual but well presented in a chunky beige cardigan, loose fitting jeans and leopard print sandals.
She was picking up some items from Whole Foods, where she is regularly seen doing the weekly shop for her and her boyfriend, Joshua Jackson.

To keep any stray locks out of her eyes, she wore a patterned headband, which looked like a scarf or bandana rolled up.

Yesterday it was announced that the German actress is the new face of Chanel skincare, and her first campaign will be released later this year.
A statement from Chanel read: 'With her natural elegance and beauty, Diane Kruger is one of the most famous faces of international cinema.
'Attracted by her cosmopolitan spirit and artistic background, the House of CHANEL chose her for its ALLURE fragrance advertising campaign in 1996, then again for the Paris-Biarritz bag advertising campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld in 2007.
'Now an ambassadress for CHANEL, Diane Kruger will be the face of a new beauty advertising campaign, due to be unveiled in 2013.'

Perhaps more aware than ever that she needs to eat carefully and healthily in order to maintain her fantastic skin, she was seen deliberating over groceries inside the West Hollywood store.
At one point she looked at her iPhone, perhaps to check a shopping list or recipe idea for dinner that night.
Diane revealed that she often cooks for her boyfriend, Dawson's Creek star Joshua Jackson and the couple were also seen buying a Martha Stewart cookbook.

All done: Shunning make-up meant that Diane's clear and bright skin was visible for all to see 

She told Stylist magazine that nutrition is important to her, when the asked her if she believes the old adage "you are what you eat".
'Yes I do. Even though I’m certainly not the vegan/vegetarian crazy person – I don’t believe in any of those silly diets where you cut out something for six months and you lose 30lbs.
'I really believe your body needs everything. Some people are really skinny but they’re also gaunt – they gotta eat a yoghurt or something, there’s something missing in their diet,' she said.
