Teen who didn't know she was pregnant gives birth in the bath then pretends to find the baby in the backyard of an abandoned building

A young woman who said that she didn't know she was pregnant confessed that she was the one to abandon her newborn in an empty Philadelphia home.
The unidentified 19-year-old girl was taking a bath early Sunday morning when she went into labor.
When she began to give birth, she cut the baby girl's umbilical cord and wrapped her in a sheet.

Scene: The 19-year-old girl left the baby wrapped in a sheet in the backyard of the pink house on North Bonsall Street in the very early hours of Sunday morning

The 19-year-old then abandoned the baby in the backyard of an empty house on North Bonsall Street.
She returned home and told her mother that she had just woken up and heard a baby crying in the nearby abandoned house.

The girl and her mother then went to the home in question and then the mother called the police at around 5.30am after they discovered the newborn.
Police transported the baby to St Christopher's Hospital and it is said to be healthy and in good condition.

Treated: The newborn was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital where it was given a clear bill of health

The local Fox affiliate reports that the young woman was taken to Temple University Hospital special victims unit.
While there, the girl told the police that she was the mother of the abandoned child and that she had been the one to leave the child at the empty house.
No charges were filed against the mother on Sunday.
