While Kim Kardashian attended court in Los  Angeles to confirm her divorce from Kris Humphries, the basketball player was hanging out on the west coast, 2448 miles away.
On Friday, despite being ordered to attend the hearing at the Californian courthouse, Kris, 28, remained in Manhattan and hung out with friends.
However, as the case has been settled and will not go to trial, the judge deemed his absence 'irrelevant' and all fines for not attending, void.

But his decision to not show on the day was not about snubbing the court or his estranged wife, rather showing loyalty to his team, the Brooklyn Nets, who have play-offs to prepare for.

On Friday afternoon, Kris was practicing at the Nets training grounds in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and according to the New York Daily News, he couldn't have been happier.
'He was confident he had a good case, but the judge wouldn’t move the date,” a source told the newspaper. 'He’s totally fine now. Basketball is more important to him than anything.'

Speaking on behalf of Humphries, a representative said: 'Kris and his family are excited to move forward and are grateful for all of the support they have received in this process.
'His commitment to the Brooklyn Nets and the team’s incredible fans is his number one priority and he is excited to head into the playoffs with this situation behind him.'
Kris had initially sued for an annulment on the grounds of fraud, claiming their 72 day marriage was all a money-making scheme instigated by the reality TV star.
But after 536 days - seven times longer than their actual marriage - the 28-year old dropped his demands and now the couple will be officially divorced by June 19.
His decision to settle was allegedly urged by the court, who found he did not have enough evidence to support his fraudulent claims against his wife.
Appearing in court, Kim, 32, answered 'yes' when asked if 'irreconcilable differences' were the reason behind the breakdown of the marriage.
