Pistorius partying - Oscar Pistorius the disgraced South African athlete has recently denied reports that have claimed that he was partying and acting flirtatiously with a group of women last Saturday in the city of Johannesburg.
The track star has kept a very low profile since the night that he killed girlfriend Reeve Steenkamp on February 14th 2013, after he allegedly mistook her for someone invading his home.
Since he has been released from prison on bail, the man who is often given the nickname “Blade Runner” has been hiding from the international attention that his case has been given, by living at his uncle’s house.
It was reported however that Pistorius appeared to be “relaxed and happy” during what is considered to be a controversial appearance at the popular Kitchen bar in Johannesburg on Sunday.
"He was drinking shooters and he was flirtatious. He didn't seem like someone [who had] lost the love of his life, he was greeting a couple and then gave the woman a little pat on her backside. It was just so inappropriate," a witness has stated and his casual attitude is said to have shocked many of the customers at the restaurant.
A spokesman for the 26 year old superstar athlete, Anneliese Burgess, spoke about the alleged appearance on Saturday.
Anneliese stated "Oscar did go out last Saturday with friends; It was the first time since the tragic and horrific events of the 14th of February that Oscar went out with friends. He has been out of the house with family, but this was the first time he went out to a restaurant with people other than close family."
The spokesperson also stated that she believed that the occurrence “s now being blown out of proportion for sensational reasons”.
The spokesperson, speaking on behalf of the athlete also strongly denied allegations of inappropriate behaviour. She stated on behalf of Pistorius, that he “strenuously and vigorously denies any inappropriate behaviour towards any people or women present, or 'partying it up' with shooters,".
The provocative public statement from the athlete comes as after a statement last week, where his public relations team were attempting to portray the athlete’s grief over his girlfriend’s death.
The statement read "There is not a moment in the day that Oscar does not mourn for his girlfriend and Reeva's family and all those who were close to her are in his thoughts constantly,”.
Pistorius is due to be back in court on June 4th 2013 where he faces a possible life sentence if he is to be found guilty of his girlfriend’s murder.
