Friends of Kylie Minogue fear that she will be devastated by the news that her former boyfriend Olivier Martinez is about to become a father.
They are worried that the 44-year-old Australian singer – who dated French actor Martinez for five years until early 2007 – will find it hard to come to terms with the shock revelation that his fiancee Halle Berry, who is 46, is pregnant.
Mother material: Kylie Minogue, 44, would like children herself
Oscar-winning
Berry already has a five-year-old daughter with former partner Gabriel
Aubry, but her family plans with Martinez could upset Kylie, who has
made no secret of wanting to become a mother like her younger sister,
Dannii.‘I love children but you can’t just snap your fingers,’ Kylie once said. ‘So I try to be philosophical – if it happens that would be incredible... I would feel incredibly blessed.’
The news will be particularly painful for the Spinning Around star because Martinez was long considered a playboy who couldn’t be tamed.
When Kylie started dating him in 2002, the mother of his previous girlfriend, Mira Sorvino, said: ‘If it’s commitment she’s after, she’s dating the wrong man. Mira wanted to settle and have children, but Olivier didn’t. She just couldn’t tie him down.’

And it won’t just be Kylie who’s upset. Model Aubry, 36, has had a famously difficult time with Martinez over visitation rights to his daughter Nahla. Last November the pair were involved in a violent fracas, with Martinez allegedly attacking him for demanding paternal access.
Kylie is dating Spanish model Andres Velencoso, 35, who is said to be reticent about settling down, causing friends to worry she’s missed her chance to have children.
A source said: ‘Kylie knows her biological clock is ticking. Although she’ll be happy for Olivier, she’ll be very sad for herself. She loves Andres, but he’s almost ten years younger than her. He’s not quite ready and she knows it might be too late to become a mother. It’s heartbreaking.’
Roald Dahl's Matilda gets lost in translation on the way to New York
Authentic: The American version of Roald Dahl's Matilda will only have references from the original book
Tim
Minchin is said to be ‘amused’ after the producers of the US version of
his smash-hit musical Matilda meddled with the script. The show, for which Tim wrote the words and music, transfers to Broadway next week.
He has had to change a line from a song to remove all reference to Harry Potter and anything else that wasn’t in the original Roald Dahl book.
My mole on the show says: ‘Matilda’s father throws a book in the bin and sings “Harry Potter, what a rotter”.
That that line is being replaced by a reference to Jane Eyre which goes “Charlotte Bronte, do not wanty”.
There’s a policy of not having anything in that happened after 1988 when the book was published.’
Is Marc the top man for Chloe? We await Sir Philip's verdict
Sir Philip Green, the billionaire boss of Topshop, is playing his cards close to his chest when it comes to offering his daughter’s boyfriend Marc Anthony the seal of approval. The 44-year-old actor, who was married to Jennifer Lopez, is now in a relationship with Green’s beloved daughter Chloe, 22, right.
But despite being spotted socialising together in Miami, Sir Philip wants to keep the actor well and truly on his toes.
‘Philip has known Marc for about five or six years now – he knows him well – but he doesn’t want to publicly give his blessing to the relationship,’ says our source.
‘Nor does he want to be negative about it in any way.’
