Lips don't lie! Adam Levine tells Shakira to shut up

The banter was in Spanish between Shakira and Adam Levine on The Voice on Monday – with the Maroon 5 frontman telling the Latina goddess to ‘shut up’ in her native tongue.
While the show failed to detonate with any really outstanding acts the judges bickering kept the third day of the blind auditions ticking for a ratings-starved NBC.
The ruckus began over Latina bombshell Karina Iglesias, who works for a music school in Miami, Florida.

Que? Shakira could not believe her ears when smug Adam Levine told her to shut up in Spanish on The Voice
Singing I’m the Only One the 35-year-old fed some Spanish into her routine – but surprisingly it didn’t convince Shakira, who landed a different Latina, Monique Abbadie later.
Adam and Blake turned their chairs at the last second, making Shakira wish she hadn’t hesitated.
‘What’s wrong with me?’ Why didn’t I press my button?’ moaned the new mother, while Adam was trying to talk to the contestant.
Surprising everyone with his language skills Adam shot back ‘shut up’ to her in Spanish.
‘Ok, that was pretty cool,’ said an open-mouthed Shakira.

Another good-natured feud was settled when Adam finally fulfilled his ambition of stealing a country act from Blake Shelton.
Thirty-year-old firefighter/single dad Warren Stone was one of the strongest country acts of the season so far – turning chairs with an emotional rendition of Cold Weather.
‘I am so ignited by what you have just done,’ said a desperate Adam while Blake told him the country community is ‘hard to get into’ but he could help him make it.
‘I am part of that community,’ said the scene’s veteran, 36, who is married to fellow country singer Miranda Lambert.

‘But I’ll be p***ed off if I don’t get you,’ begged Adam, who punched the air after his unforeseen victory.
‘I was very happy to watch Blake suffer,’ he raved.
‘My dream has finally come true,’ he added while Usher suggested the warring coaches get ‘couples therapy’ to stop the jibing.

The night kicked off with ‘The Swon Brothers’ from Oklahoma. The rugged duo come from a gospel music background but rocked out to Tom Petty’s American Girl.
Judges couldn’t help but clap along, and everyone but Adam turned their chairs.
The pair went with ‘their Oklahoma man’ and chose Blake.

The nervous Texan, 17, sang the R&B track I’m Going Down - with Usher and Shakira turning their chairs.
With his leg up on his chair, a move he’s become famous for on The Voice, Usher said he loved her ‘passion.’
‘You love R&B and I love that,’ he sighed after putting his leg down to pay attention to her sing.
Shakira boasted about her contortion skills.
‘I can get my legs behind my ears,’ she said, without demonstrating.
But the former gymnast chose Usher as her coach.

Abandoned as a baby 23-year-old Sam Alves said he hopes to support his adopted mother by launching a singing career.
His rendition of Feeling Good by Nina Simone failed to turn any heads but Shakira reeled off a little Portuguese to reassure the Brazilian singer.
‘Can you talk Portugese a lot more - because it’s really sexy?’ Adam asked the Hips Don’t Lie singer.
Karina picked Adam, after he told her he thought ‘the light fixtures were going to explode’ when she sang.
He was a reject from season three of The Voice but raspy Garrett Gardner, 17, was back for another try.

Hands hovered over buzzers but only Shakira turned.
‘I was pissed when you guys didn’t pick him last season,’ said Shakira, who claimed to recognize the teen, who cried on stage last year when he talked about his father’s death.
Talented Holly Tucker, 19, plays the sax in her Texas marching band, but when she sings it’s all about county music.
‘I sing in a trio with my parents,’ said the grinning churchgoer, who caused all four judges to fight for her.
‘You are so good, you could blow any genre out of the water, I love you,’ said Adam while Usher told her he could ‘nurture’ her.

But Blake stole her heart with his charm and undeniable country connection.
‘Don’t listen to Gusher over there,’ he joked before doing a victory moonwalk on stage.
‘When they try and steal a country artist from me I feel like a cat playing with a mouse,’ said the multi platinum artist, before he lost out to Adam at the end of the show.

Gravelly-voiced Landon Medvec almost had the judges with You Give Me Something by James Morrison – his ‘first ever gig.’
The 20-year-old from Minnesota hoped to leave his job as a professional mover but he failed to sway any coaches.
‘It sucks,’ said the spikey-haired wannabe.

Michelle Chamuel says she ‘represents nerdy people,’ and despite already fronting a band she describes herself as an ‘introvert’
The 26-year-old from Massachusetts used her allotted 90 seconds for I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry.
Everyone except Blake turned for the bespectacled brunette.
Shakira said she loved her ‘fierce’ air punching and ‘rock chick’ attitude.
‘I love you,’ breathed Adam.
For some unknown reason the rocker chose Usher.

Nashville blonde Julie Roberts already has a gold country album but ‘parted with’ her lable after a poor-selling second record.
After a sad story of loss and illness she sang the Blake Shelton song God Gave Me You – it wasn’t enough to impress any of the panel.
‘I feel bad about not turning my chair around,’ said Blake, who had already met the struggling singer.

Clad in neon Cuban/American singer Monique Abbadie also took a risk by singing one of the judges songs – Loco by Shakira.
The lively performance impressed everyone and but the Beautiful Liar star stood up to dance.
‘I actually hope you pick Shakira, it seems like a match made in heaven,’ said Adam as the bubbly redhead picked her Latina ‘idol’.
