Kat Von D wedding, the latest deadmau5 and Kat Von D wedding plans have been revealed. While it may sound at first like the two will be getting married 20,000 leagues under the sea, the two will in fact be using an "underwater" theme for their ceremony.
The People Magazine site reported as of April 15 that the couple first became engaged back in Dec. 2012. Kat Von D and deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, are planning a ceremony for Aug. 10 which will bring 200 friends and family to Los Angeles. The duo will use an "underwater-themed" marriage ceremony as part of the process. Kat has told PEOPLE that her wedding will be the "furthest thing from traditional."
Apparently the underwater theme comes due to Kat and Zimmerman's love of "The Call of Cthulhu." The short story is by H.P. Lovecraft and describes a character which is half-man, half-octopus. To add to the theme, performers will be dressed as mermaids. It's unknown if deadmau5 will sport an octopus headpiece or his traditional mouse ears he is famous for wearing as a popular DJ.
Kat Von D said of her wedding dress for the special event:
"It will have a sleek silhouette and include hints of iridescent teals, blues and deep violet ombré gradients. I didn't know the dress was supposed to be a surprise."
Her future husband has been helping with the design of the dress. In Kat's words, the ceremony and dress won't be as big a deal as "Being with Joel is the only thing that feels more natural than tattooing."
Kat Von D was on the reality TV show "LA Ink," which first started on TLC back in 2007. The show profiled Kat and others as tattoo artists. Roanoke viewers can see TLC programming on Cox Cable channel 18.
