The hot-and-cold couple are definitely over, for now.
"Correct," said John Mayer in response to Ellen DeGeneres’ statement that he and pop star Katy Perry are no longer together.
On the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” episode airing Tuesday, the daytime host noted that the last time she saw the two, they were very much an item.
"The last time I saw you, you were at the Grammys. You were sitting on the same row as Portia and I with Katy. And I know Katy; she is a good friend as well. And I know that since then you're not together anymore," she said.
Mayer, who in the past has revealed very personal details about his famous exes like Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, says this time he is staying mum on the topic.
"It was a very private relationship going in. It was a private relationship during, and it's a private relationship still,” he said about the "Part of Me" singer.

“I can understand asking the question based on some previous answers I have given.But I have finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other. I've been much happier since then. I'm on the same journey as everyone else. Coupling is a tricky thing."
The "Gravity" singer went on to speak about his recent throat injury that resulted in two surgeries on his vocal cords and its causes.
"Half of it [was acid reflux], half of it is overuse and singing and singing and singing. The other stuff is you know, what you put into your body. And, I'm getting to that age now your body doesn't just shake everything off, and it didn't help that I really loved, loved, loved scotch. It's just like applying poison to your body."
"It's like applying a shellac of poison. It's just delicious, wonderful poison. That makes you not care how late you're out till or where you're going,” the 35-year-old songwriter, who has only performed one set in the last two years, continued.
“I had to really say I like singing and writing more than I like delicious scotch, so I had to really dial it down. And I'm a little more boring now."
"Ultimately, it makes you probably a lot more interesting," DeGeneres added.
Mayer will return to music sooner than later, as he has just announced he will begin touring this summer in more than 40 cities throughout the country.
