Is this the shortest TV career in history? 'Nervous' brand

The weekend new anchor who started his new job by swearing live on air with his first words has been let go today by his news station in North Dakota.

KFYR news anchor A.J. Clemente opened up on air by saying ‘F****** s***’ into his live microphone, leaving his co-anchor dumbfounded.

Sadly though for Clemente, KFYRTV fired him today after less than 24-hours in the job and Clemente took to Twitter to say, 'Unfortunately KFYRTV has decided to let me go. Thank you to them and everyone in ND for the opportunity and everyone for the support.'

Gaffe: New KFYR co-anchor A.J. Clemente started his first night on the job by swearing into his microphone, perhaps unaware that it was live

Smile through the pain: His co-anchor, Van Tieu, stumbled through her introduction of her co-worker following his string of profanities

However, Clemente has kept his sense of humor, taking to the social networking site to own up to his 'rookie mistake' and that he is obviously now a 'free agent.'

'Cant help but laugh at myself and stay positive. Wish I didn't trip over my 'Freaking Shoes' out of the gate,' said Clemente.

Yesterday, KFYR news anchor A.J. Clemente opened up on air by saying ‘F****** s***’ into his live microphone, leaving his co-anchor dumbfounded.

Anchor Van Tieu, who introduced her new co-worker, seemed to stumble as she heard Clemente swear into his microphone, looking down at his shoes rather than into the camera.

A.J. Clemente took to Twitter to tell his followers that he had unfortunately been fired from his job after swearing live on air

‘You may have seen our new… A.J. on North Dakota News.’

Clemente, who appeared visibly rattled from his gaffe, thanked Tieu for the introduction and began talking about his history, saying he is a graduate of West Virginia University.

‘I’m used to, you know, from being from the East Coast.’

The new co-anchor then went into reading about a fatal crash that happened earlier that day.

Following the broadcast, Clemente tweeted: ‘That couldn’t have gone any worse!’

Monica Hannan, the news director for the NBC station, took to the KFYR Facebook page to post an apology for the anchor’s slip up.

Probably not the best way to start your new job. Anchor begins...

Clammy calamity: Clemente then goes through a bungled introduction, saying he is a graduate of West Virginia University and is from the East Coast

On leave: The station's manager later said that Clemente was suspended 'until we resolve the situation'

‘I want to apologize for an incident that occurred prior to our early newscast this evening, when one of our employees used profanity on the air,’ she wrote.

‘He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that's no excuse. We train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case. WE can't take back what was said.

‘The person involved has been suspended until we resolve the situation. All we can do at this point is ask for your forgiveness, and I can offer my personal assurance that I will do my best to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again under my watch.’

Perhaps the most famous slip-up, however, was from Fox 5 News’ Ernie Anastos, an Emmy-award winning writer. The New York City nightly news anchor playfully told his co-anchor to ‘keep on f****** that chicken.’The newcast clip became a viral hit, in no small part because of the grimace on his co-anchor Dari Alexander’s face.
