Ryan Gosling has revealed he had a crush on Britney Spears during their time in the Mickey Mouse Club.
The actor, 32, has admitted the pair used to share the occasional innocent kiss when he was 12 and she was 11.
'Britney was a sweetheart. She lived right above me, the girl next door,' the Drive star said.
He added with a touch of nostalgia that Britney was: 'The little girl I used to play basketball and spin the bottle with.'
When asked if he kept in touch with his famous co-star, the Blue Valentine actor explained: 'Not really. I mean, sometimes you are at the same event...
'But it's a lot like I imagine what it's like to run into someone from elementary school.'
'It is remarkable, but it isn't, in a way,' the actor said, 'Now you have The X Factor and all that stuff, but back then it wasn't around.'
The star added: ''You give these kids an unparalleled work ethic which is why you see the difference between 'NSYNC and those other bands, and between Britney and Christina and the other girls.'
