Female police officer shoots dead boyfriend and 1-year-old child before killing herself as teenager escapes through window to call 911

An NYPD officer shot dead her long-term boyfriend and 1-year-old son then killed herself on Monday morning according to authorities.
The body of Rosette Samuel, 43, was found next to the toddler, called Dylan, in a bed at their house at 805 East 56th St in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.
Police said Dondre Samuel, a 19-year-old son from the officer's previous marriage, was at the address, but he escaped out of a window and called 911.

Browne said the body of Dason Peters, the policewoman's boyfriend, believed to be 33 years old, was found in a doorway at the house.
Officers discovered the three people dead at before 9 am on Monday morning. Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said: 'It was a tough crime scene.'
The Associated Press reported that Samuel and the child were shot in the chest and lying face up on the bed in her bedroom.

Authorities think the incident was a result of a domestic dispute. The Deputy Commissioner said Samuel's teenage son fled through a back window after hearing gun shots.
He reportedly alerted authorities then met responding officers at the front of the house.

The New York Daily News reported that Jeff Joseph, a relative of the family, had rushed over to the apartment and cried when he heard the news.
'She was a very good girl,' said Joseph. 'She always did good with her life. I didn't make trouble because of her.'
The officer was assigned to the 108th precinct which covers Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside in Queens. Browne stated that Samuel had been with the NYPD for 13 years.
DNAInfo reported that she had recently transferred to the 108th precinct from NYPD's Manhattan Traffic Task Force.
She had no history of shooting her weapon on duty and was reportedly in good standing within the department.

Agnes Samuel, 83, who told NBC she was an aunt of Rosette, said she couldn't understand the shootings as the policewoman seemed like a happy person.
'It's terrible,' the emotional woman said. 'For people to take a life like that. Oh, Lord!'
Neighbors told DNAinfo that the family lived on the first floor of the two-story home, and the owner of the building lived above.
