Hannah failed in her bid to be Slovenia's 2011 Eurovision Song Contest entry. Two years on she has been chosen to compete in Malmo on May 18. Full name Hannah Mancini, she is American born but moved to Europe six years ago after marrying a Slovenian. Slovenia crashed out of Eurovision at the semi-final stage last year – but how far can Hannah go this time around? It is always interesting to see which countries follow the previous song contest winner's style with their song choice. This certainly feels like the Loreen route to success, with a female vocal over a dance beat. Except Loreen did it better (or maybe it's because David Guetta got there first and we all just thought it was actually Titanium we were hearing).Hannah has a good voice to complement the dance vibe, and it could surely lend itself to an impressive laser show and stage spectacle when performed live. Essentially it's Europop - so don't be surprised if you hear it on your holidays if you head for the local nightclub. But that throbbing beat is borderline offensive if you are over a certain age or under the critical level of coolness. (Ie me. And I've never been a fan of dance music.) A Eurovision winner needs to have mass appeal (or be a mass novelty like Lordi) - and I'm not convinced this will.
