With the support of his famous family behind him, Barry James Thomas seemed a shoe-in at The Voice auditions.
But even though he was styled for Saturday night's show by nephew Ryan from Coronation Street, the rock singer failed to make it through to the next round.
None of the coaches decided to turn their chairs around for him after his rendition of The Boys Are Back In town, leaving all of his supporters disappointed.
The chirpy singer proved just
how close he is to his Ryan, who was one of his main supporters at the
blind auditions, joking around with him backstage.
The 28-year-old star also acted as his uncle's stylist for his moment in the spotlight, dressing him in double denim much to Jessie J's horror.
Barry revealed that is was the Corrie actor who spurred him on to pursue his dream of becoming a recording artist, giving him the boost he needed to apply.
But unfortunately for the famous
family, the dark-haired singer's audition didn't quite go to plan,
although he won over the coaches with his personality.
Despite proving that he was a talented singer with his gritty vocals and impressive skills on the electric guitar, none of the coaches turned their chairs.
'I thought you were rocking and smoking and I was hoping that Danny would turn around because you guys would have been good together,' admitted Will.i.am.
'I think everyone has to understand with a show like this we're just listening to the tone of your voice and I just think that the song choice was a bit predictable,' said Jessie J.
Tom Jones seemed to agree with Jessie, saying: ' I think Jessie's right - that song choice just seemed a bit too obvious to me.'
'I didn't actually realise that you were playing your own guitar,' added Danny. 'You've got some series skills.'
But instead of being upset or cross at the fact that he had been rejected, Barry seemed magnanimous and told the judges that he was going to come back next year and try out a little bit of 'soul.'
Clearly determined to be a success, Barry has previously auditioned for The X Factor in Manchester, but failed to make it through.
