Cheney made the unpleasant pronouncement to Republican leaders in Congress on Tuesday, a GOP leadership aide told CNN.
Rep. Steve Southerland of Florida, who was in the session, told CNN that the former vice president didn’t give any specific policy recommendations for handling the rogue nation but advised the lawmakers not to “eliminate any possibility.”
Sutherland also said the 72-year-old former VP “looked really good” following his successful heart transplant last year.
Saber rattling by Kim Jong Un has peaked in recent days, with the North Korean leader warning foreigners to leave South Korea because a nuclear war in imminent.
White House spokesman Jay Carney has brushed off the aggressive talk as part of a long pattern of “unhelpful rhetoric” by North Korea.
“It’s unhelpful, it is concerning, it is provocative,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adm. Samuel Locklear, commander of U.S. Pacific Command, told senators on Tuesday that the U.S. military can intercept a ballistic missile if North Korea decides to strike.
