Patrol Sgt. Edward Greene said that when the bus lost control several passengers on the passenger's side of the bus were thrown onto the opposite of the vehicle.

When the driver was able to maneuver the bus back onto the road it veered toward the left before it stopped after hitting a tree.

'If the tree wasn't there to stop the bus, it would have continued down the ravine,' Greene said.
